A couple of minor issues ?

Post by Steve71 »

Firstly, I'm really happy with the latest firmware upgrade to 2.0.....excellent.

I don't know if I'm the first to mention these little issues.....so here goes.

On entering "inputs" and selecting "edit"........how is it that only one side of "weight" can be adjusted.....as in split throws (more movement up than down, or visa versa). I had this feature on my old JR PCM9xII......and to be fair, it's not a big deal, but there are times when the throws need adjusting, and only one half of the stick throw moves. It was the same on the old firmware....I'm not sure anyone knows about it.

Secondly, I have a D8R-II Plus fitted with a normal precision Vario in a Multiplex Solius EP glider. All worked great last weekend, but after changing the firmware in my Taranis, and selecting the Vario to on......it bleeps constantly, whilst you can still hear the vario bleep behind it ?.

If possible, I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong......if anything ?.

I'm really pleased the countdown timer is finally fixed........although, once the spoken countdown has reached zero....I'd still like the beeps to continue too.

Other than that, I'm really happy with the update........I'm not being critical, but if these minor flaws are sorted.....the Taranis and OpenTX 2.0 is near enough perfect !!!.

Thanks in advance,

Steve.

You can use the "side" setting feature to enter different parameters for each side of the stick.
Or use ether a default or custom curve.

For the beeps, hard to know without seeing your settings and/or have some clear description (video?) of the beeps.

The way vario tone are generated has been changed in release 2.0.x.
You can find more informations about this in this thread

You will see that it is still possible to implement a dead band but you have to set up some logical switches.

I tried the side setting......again, it only adjusted one side of the stick ?.

As for the Vario, it's just bleeping constantly....as if there is a fault ?.

Something else I've just found, the second timer is still counting wrongly, and repeating 10 seconds, like the issue we have with timer one (which is fine now).

Just tried the Vario plugged into my D8R-II Plus rx again, and the tx still bleeps constantly on and off all the time, when the Vario is switched on.

It was perfectly alright before the firmware was upgraded to OpenTX 2 ?.

I want to use the Vario, but it's next to useless at the moment ??.

Please advise, someone !!

It now works differently, and if you want a dead zone you need to use logic switches to only turn the vario on when vertical speed is out of the desired dead zone.

Hiya.

Thanks for that...

Why change something for the worse, and have to mess around with programming to stop the permanent bleeping.....when there was nothing wrong at all before the firmware update ?.

It doesn't make sense. It was perfect on 2940, but now....it can't be used as before....it can only be a firmware issue ?.

Because some people wanted it like it is now, and it wasn't possible. Now it is, and the old behavior is still possible too. More options.

See mstrens' post and link above, and argue with him if not happy. I also think the default should be as it was before, but...

Got sick and tired of the Vario sensor, so I sold it.

It was a firmware issue
