When I connect power to the receiver with/without servos being connected the Taranis transmitter says "ailerons critical" and repeats approx every 10secs. Once the power is removed from the receiver ailerons critical stops. Any help appreciated.

It's "A1 critical", A1 being the voltage measured by the receiver's A1 channel (depends on receiver), and "critical" would be sounding because the value of A1 is lower than what you've set for the "A1 critical" setting on the telemetry setup page

Many thanks for your help. Just realized transmitter set for a 2.2mah 3cell receiver battery and I was using a 4.8v battery for carry out out some vario checks.
