Which Transmitter

Post by SirGlider »

I am getting back into RC aircraft flying after a 7 year hiatus. I want to fly Gliders mainly the 5FJ models. All my old radio gear is 72Mhz gear and I am looking into new radio gear. All this new gear is rather intimidating with all of the programming capabilities available.

Some recommendations would be appreciated on the best gear for the money spent. Also, ease of programming and model setup are very important. The best places to purchase radio gear would be helpful.

Thanks

If you want to look at programming a radio that runs open source firmware (erskyTx or openTx), you could download the PC program for them to try out (for free).
For erskyTx, go to http://www.er9x.com/, then click on the link for eepskye.
For openTx go to https://www.open-tx.org/, and download Companion.

For the best place to purchase you might specify which country you are in!

Hi SirGlider,
FrSky Taranis Plus radio would be a good one to consider: (https://alofthobbies.com/frsky-taranis-plus.html.)
I use erskyTx (was named erSky9x) on Taranis (firmware) and I like it a lot ! (http://www.er9x.com/)
Er9x on 9x radio, with Smartieparts Programmer and TelemetrEZ Board.
ErSky9x on Taranis, Sky9x, 9Xtreme radios.
3D-Printing: (https://openrcforums.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=129).
