Elevator trim

When I was flying a 3.4m f5J glider yesterday I used the elevator trim to apply some down trim and was taken by surprise when the trim shot to max trim.
Has anyone experienced this? :?:

What is your "Trim Step" set at? If "exponential", then this may be your problem.
