Is it possible to upgrade my FW from 2.1.9 to 2.2.x and then would my early version Taranis be compatible with the S6R Rx. Is there another way around this problem. Thanks.

Yes the firmware upgrade is very doable. I have a very early X9D and have it running 2.2.2.
What exactly is the problem?
If it is running the lua script, I think you need to upgrade to 2.2.2, but have never tried.
But for just sending outputs to control the S6R, I think you could do that with 2.1.9.
I personally do not use the S6R or S8R, so not sure what you see as the problem.
