Hi,

And what about swapping + and - directly on the Taranis gimbals pot, I mean swapping between the pot and the opamp ?

Before I was told the 9x has "creative" coloring I had brown to black, red to red and my radio wouldnt turn on. So they only work in one direction.

Would work in theory, but it's very tiny in there. You'd have to cut traces and bridge them crossed with super fine wires.

Was busy yesterday, and then sorting the SPort code for the openXsensor. I should get back on it today!

Mike.

Edit: OK, I think this is working. I'll post a test version of er9x. Which version do you need (er9x, er9x-frsky, er9x-128 etc.)?

I'm implementing it in openTx as well, can you confirm that only the 2 horizontal axes (rudder/ailerons) are inverted? Or all 4?

Kilrah I have only put on the right gimbal and only ailerons is inverted, I fly mode 2, so that same axis on the left would be rudder, I havent connected the left gimbal but should have the same effect.

Test version now available, see here:
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... 969#p64969

Setting which sticks are reversed is slightly odd (to save using too much flash). It's basically a 4 bit binary value, each bit set corresponds to a stick reversed, but you cycle through the 16 different possibilities. THe stick image is inverse video is the stick is reversed. You will need to re-calibrate if you reverse a stick.

Mike I tried the test version, it works great, only thing is the software seems to lag as you move through the screens.

Another note, when I calibrate and move all the way up diagonally either left or right I cant get it perfect like when I go diagonal down. Another thing about the taranis gimbals on a 9x, something Rob already pointed out, the gimbals go only one way that will let the transmitter close up. Thats with the horizontal axis pot on the top because the screw that changes if this is your throttle gimbal or not wont permit closing the transmitter if its upward.

Tried setting up the phoenix sim but wasnt able to set curves on er9x, when I hit ID1 or ID2 its like I programmed nothing, can anyone try setting up a heli with this test version and see where I am failing? Also on Channel Order on RADIO SETUP I had to select ATER to be able to get Ail,Elev,Thr,Rud order on Mixes.

There is a change to the menu handling, it is supposed to be better!
Exactly how is the calibration not 'perfect'?
Maybe post your EEPROM to see what the problem with curves is.
I'll look into the channel order problem.

The channel order problem occurs when you create a new model. If you apply a template, it is then correct. I know the fix!

I went back to the firmware I had before this one to verify the mixes for heli curves on throttle and collective I had and they worked properly, but when I try on the test version they wont work. Also when I apply a new throttle mix and go to the display the display doesnt move, I have to turn off the radio and back on for it to move again. I will put the test version back on and post the eeprom.

Something I noticed, when I test the mixes with the Simulate option on eepee THEY WORK! But on the transmitter they dont, check this video out where I have a throttle curve of 90 flat on ID1 and 100 flat on ID2. Also you can see I had to restart the tx for the throttle to even move.

For those who consider upgrading to Taranis sticks: there seem to be a version of sticks without amplifiers. Not sure if it's a 'first batch', or a 'modified' one... Here's the photo (sorry for the quality - I had to use a phone):

Image

I got this stick from t9hobbysport.com. There are at least a couple other guys who reported to have the same sticks without amplifiers.
The good thing is that reversing of these sticks can be done simply by swapping the cables (no need for firmware support). Although, I do not know if there is any difference in smoothness or resolution compared to sticks that came with amplifiers.

Here are other photos of a similar stick:

Interesting, can you measure the restistance between the center pin and one of the side ones when the corresponding axis is at both ends?
Alternatively list the min/max hex values in the analog diag page if you don't have a multimeter? Would be interesting to see if they changed pots or decided the reduced resolution was good enough...

Sure. The resistance is about 580 to 2430 Ohms, end to end.

Can someone please share the value for the pot with an amplifier?

Woops, and what's total resistance (between both outer pins of the pot?)

2600 Ohms

How bad is it???

Edit: Just measured another pot: 490 to 2440 Ohms, and 2740 Ohms total.

Mike when I simulate it on EEPE it works fine, the problem is on the transmitter.

Looks good then, they apparently managed to find a mechanically compatible pot that gives similar resolution witout the need for the amp.

They may have gone to the manufacturer and got a 'special' made. With the number they need, it is probably cheaper to do that, then keep making the amplifier version.
