Hi Guys,

Modding these radios is simple for the initiated. For the newcomer it can be quite scary (it was for me!).
I think that it might be a good idea to have a resource/pool of people willing to help others. This is completely volentary and the only thanks you'll get is from the person you've helped.

I'd like to start a list here. Please specify your username (first name if you wish), your location (country/state is enough) and how you would prefer to be contacted. I would suggest that you do not include phone numbers as this is a public forum. From time to time I'll update the list from the responses below.

Here's the list:
Name: Erez
Location: NJ, USA (close to NYC)
Contact me by: PM

Name: Adrian
Location : GTA, Ontario, Canada

I was just kidding, I can help I think, there are many levels of distress, and I am usually ok at finding posts that others have put up that answer questions even when I can't.

Has anyone thought of a mod service where only the board is sent out for mods?
If one had spares on hand a quick turnaround would work if the original board was not required returned. I damaged board repair as well?
The labor would be the limiting price if the required parts for installation were supplied with the board. The solder in programmer for instance. Critical telemetry updates to the board and the DJT module as well. This would require the original owner to make all the other case, module pins, and TTL to RS232 mods. Those mods are less critical soldering and such do damage would be much less for newbees.
Not for me due to busy club help already but it may work for simeone(s) here?

I am willing to do any mod in any easy way, and getting only the bare board can save on shipping, so a good idea, but I can not get spare boards for ready made mods, just because it seems customs in Germany blocks the TX now. If they did not I may have got 2 or 3 and striped them for "spares" just to help out where I can.

In General I think it is a good idea to just do the main board mods.

Hi.

I got an email from a guy looking for some help. He found me from here. He is "interested in purchasing a 9x with the hardware telemetry on screen hack and haptic feedback done". He talked about ordering his own parts. I asked him to open up a thread here about what he is looking for to get some feedback. Not sure if I am the best choice to help him but I said I would do what I can. His name is Dane.

Massive thanks to Westy He helped me by sacrificing sleep before work to get the Mod on mine done for the firmware, its all flashed now and the Hot glue placed in we used Network cable for the wiring, its rather ridged though and pin one keeped coming loose whenever it was moved at all massive amounts of Hot glue fixed that Next thing is the back light Mod and the trainer Mod ( not sure if this still needs doing in the stock Module now with the software sending the signal to the trainer port now or not) and Looking at the speaker Mod too * though im poor now after making a few orders from Hobbyking* so it will be in the future, I do have an Old Nokia with a broken screen though, Might be able to use the speaker and haptic from that ......... might rip it aparrt and take a look*

thanks
Mike

First off I think any fourm member that wants any help should fill in some location info in their profile. In my case I live in the Los Angeles area and have already helped several I contacted in my area(PM). I understand that we all want to have some privacy but in this case being too private may keep you from getting needed help.
I'de like to purpose that posting ones town, city or generalized vacinity is important for giving and getting help.

A very good price. A few typos in the add and more detailed pictures of the modifications and Frsky telemetry showing on the screen would help a lot. I've been helping a few locals fully mod their 9x radios and your price in interesting. I was adding up the parts they ordered and the 9x cost $55-58 let's say + another $22 shipping from china. You must have a lower cost option fir irdering radios? The Sp board to their door using the new price is $43. The TTL to rs233 about $5. The DJT $22 and the RX $22-25 + $6 shipping from aloft.
If my fuzzy math is working I think they spent almost $150 on parts and shipping. How do you make any profit? I do it for free as a friend but if your product is good St that price I'll send the next "friends" to you.
Oh, what is the add on shipping snd handling your site mentions? No listing for that?
I'm asking because you did post a link to your product page so that opened up this discussion. You can pm me with your answeres if it's better to not talk prices here for profit.
You should attract a lot of persons here.

I am located in Stockholm, Sweden. Since the interested would be Swedish the rest goes in the language of honor and heroes:

Sorry but google translater made such a mess of the translation of the language of heroes that I'm even more confused?
Maybe you could translate it better than I could because I'd like to read your comments.
Thank you.
I'm interested in this TX modification service since other flyers keep asking me to help them. I agree about the donation to the fourm of $5 euro for each tx firmware flash first time if done for profit. In fact first or second timers should do it now! I've made several donations in general but will make it standard now for anyone I do a firmware programming addition and flash for the first time.
I'm sure we're all doing that now but it doesn't hurt to mention how fortunate we are for the FW we use.

I am more than happy to help with 9x/FrSky mods. I am better at hardware than software and good with a soldering iron.

I have made all the mistakes on my own kit - so others should benefit from my lessons learned.

I live in the Paderborn area of Germany. I am English but speak sufficient German to deal with most issues.

Use alan(at)agpcom(dot)de
