Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
Hi its me again,
Member of an adjacent model club turned up at my club today with the above radio system. It will not boot, just beeping and displaying
Eprom error message.
I just want to ask, do I re flash the eprom with the Eprom from a similar radio followed by a trial, then reflash the firmware from the other radio?
If not what should I be doing?
I would try the ER9X route suggested last year, but, the guy wants to try to retain the AFHDS 2 A system as he hasn't got an original transmit module for the said ER9X route!

Also been scratching around trying to find info on an ORX TX module 18 DBM Walkera Switchable unit, Can this module be used in a Turnigy 9X, unflashed or flashed, might be able to use with the above TX perhaps?

If flashing to er9x, Multiprotocol module maybe a solution.

BUMP!!!
Ok, so should I give it a go and reflash a copy of the eeprom file from a similar Tx? Will it compromise the tx if it doesn't work?If it didn't, I would then try flashing ER9X and use an Orange module, as 6 channel rx's are currently around £3.50 on H/king!

Re: Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
AFAIK the module just takes PPM and handles the AFHDS2A on its own (single model), the software of the radio is unmodified. Either flash the EEPROM from the stock firmware which should get things working again, or move to open software.

ok, brilliantly unsuccessfull !!!
still getting eeprom error message.
Any further suggestions, anyone?
Also, anyone got a copy of the firmware for the Tgy 9x AFHDS 2A system? If so I would like a copy thanks!

Re: Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
Read the eeprom and firmware from a similar 9x AFHDS 2a using a smartie parts basic board, then flashed the eeprom followed by the firmware.
The firmware appeared to be accepted following the screen displaying progress! When rebooted just a beeeeeeeeeeeeep and error message.
where would I find the stock firmware?

By default flashing firmware erases the EEPROM. You must flash firmware first and EEPROM second.stotty1111 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 9:18 am Read the eeprom and firmware from a similar 9x AFHDS 2a using a smartie parts basic board, then flashed the eeprom followed by the firmware.

Re: Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
If you are flashing using eepe, the is an option, under the burn menu, to "set the fuses to protect the EEPROM". If you use that, then flashing the firmware will not erase the EEPROM.

Ok, flashed stock firmware and then eeprom from stock package. Some progress, now getting switch error message and intermittent beep.

Re: Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
I assume you have tried setting all the switches in different positions to try to clear the switch error. I've not used the stock firmware.
I also assume the radio hasn't had the telemetry mod done to it.

Contribution to the fund en route later today!!
Once again thanks for the help!

Re: Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
Ok another day another problem, just bought a blank screened 9X off Leboncoin, didn't pay a lot for it.
Switching on, no display, installed a S/P basic board, reset fuses to protect eeprom, it took that instruction apparently, tried to flash stock AFHDS 2A firmware, it ran thro' the motions, but after reading it came back with:-
AVRDUDE.EXE did not finish correctly and at the bottom of the steps
AVRDUDE.EXE: verifying....
" : verification error; first mismatch @ byte 0x0004
0x0c ! = 0x8c
AVRDUDE.EXE: verification error; content mismatch
AVRDUDE done - exit code 1
Help!!!

Re: Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
It sounds like the processor may be "broken".
Read the flash memory to a file, zip the file up and post it here (or PM it to me). I'll have a look at it, it may well tell me if the processor is bad.

If processor turns out to be bad, then one option could be
to upgrade to the ATMEGA2561-16AU Chip: viewtopic.php?f=95&t=3819&start=120#p74105

Re: Turnigy 9X AFHDS 2A system
Ok, can't read flash memory, its telling me to try a later version, think the version I have is the latest. I have an old m/board from an earlier version, i'll piggy back it with all the plugs transferred and give that a go!
