9XR PRO Bricked problem

Post by boko »

I wasn't carful when I tried to upgrade Bootlouder and the result is a blanck screen.
Then I fallowed manual "9XR Pro: Using SAM-BA to Restore a “Bricked” Transmitter" from 2014-02-12.
I installed SAM-BA v2-12 on my WIN XP OS. After erasing the chip, my PC recognised radio as Bossa Program Port (COM23)
I flashed radio with ersky9xr_rom.bin "ERSKY9X (revision 217)" but after reseting radio, the screen is still blanck.
I'd need some help on this in order to save the radio.

Best regards,
Boko

How did you do the actual flashing using SAM-BA? Did you use eepskye?

So you followed the instructions in the manual?
Did you execute the script "Boot from Flash (GPNVM1)” after flashing?

Did you follow a link to get the manual that didn't mention the GPNVM1? If so, please let us know which link so we can make sure, if possible, an out of date manual is replaced.

Not OP, but I had the exact same issue, the manual linked to here:- viewtopic.php?f=123&t=5581&p=83566&hili ... 3s8#p83566 (specificly the ' 9XR Pro Using SAM-BA to restore bricked Tx 2014-02-12.pdf' af the bottom of the first post.) doesn't say anything about the command you mentioned. After trying it I now have a working radio agin, Thanks!

Erase button on the 9xr pro worked like magic. Pressed on switching on, restored the flash so that samba could work its magic. I must tire to add Bluetooth again...

Hello ,
I come to "9XR PRO Bricked problem" that I have read completely without finding a solution!
My 9XR PRO is "super bricked". It doesn't light up at all! It is no longer recognized by any USB port.
For some time now it has switched off by itself and only comes on again when I disconnect and reconnect the battery.
It worked the last time when I put it away and when I took it back: nothing!
I am using a 2s battery and I have not done a reverse polarity, the current is reaching the board to which the switch (checked) is plugged.
I have tried all the ways to turn it on!
Does somebody have an idea ?
Thank you

Doesn't the blue light also turn ON?
Also, you are using a 2s battery? How did you connect it to the radio? The connector on the radio is for a 3s battery as far as I remember? So I guess a 2s balance charge connector won't work?

Thanks Joao
The blue led does not light up, I tried with a 3s pack that does not work either.
The only fuse I found is good, and the reset button does nothing!

Hello,

Yeh! I've found the solution on another topic: https://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7668

It was the "famous" resistor R9

Everything is in order !

I bypassed it, what is the risk if I leave it like this?

Many thanks to Joao and to the forum for keeping 5 years old topics!

R9 is used to measure (Amp meter) the drain of the Tx in order to check the charge level, not necessary, you can short it...

Nice that you have fixed it. Well done.. :)
Yes, as said above, you can just short that resistor.
There are a couple situations that caused that resistor to go bad. One of them is inserting or removing the RF module while the radio is ON. Always turn the radio OFF before you do that..
