Opentx ver: 2.0.8

Post by Tree69 »

This week I finally got the 9xrpro. I upgraded to the opentx 2.0.8 and now have serveral problems.
1. I lost the opening splash screens and voice which I thought was nice. I thought that they would stay.
2. In the special functions page 9/11. :: ID1 Play ...(highlight with menu) error message "no sounds on SD" [exit].
I know there are sounds on the sd card. What is wrong? What am I doing wrong?
3. Is there a manual for opentx 2.0.8?

Splash screen is configurable in the radio settings.
Sounds and folders are different for OpenTX than for ersky9x, so you'll want to back up the SD card contents, then replace them with the appropriate ones for OpenTX. The voice pack is downloaded from companion's download dialog and unzipped to the SD card.

As far as documentation goes, the official manual for OpenTX is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qlh ... -PJA81rDJQ

This is for the Taranis, some things are not available on the 9XR-Pro but most is valid.

Some good third-party info is also available here: www.open-txu.org

I'm curious as to why you chose to swap to openTx?
ersky9x, as supplied on the 'PRO has been developed with the 'PRO hardware in mind, and manuals are specifically available for using ersky9x with the 'PRO.

Is a revised manual for OpenTx 2.x planned ?

The plan is to have doc ready when the 2.0 branch is considered stable, and work starts on 2.1. For the moment 2.0 is still "ahead of the curve".

There is an unfinished document about the differences of 2.0 here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lL8 ... JQCN25RQGA

I was on another forum and it was mentioned that there was a fix for the Flysky transmitter module on the 9xrpro radio. Campanion 9x said there was a new update so I installed it. It happened to be opentx 2.0.8. I did not save my original transmitter software and I am trying to get that software or ersky software for that radio. I saw one ersky9xr ... Would this one work?

ersky9x releases are here: http://code.google.com/p/ersky9x/source ... vn%2Ftrunk. The 9XR-PRO uses ersky9xr_rom.bin.
The original version on the 'PRO is r202, although I understand later units should have shipped with r204 (labelled as r205 on the above site as I forgot to include the binaries when I released it!). r204 does include a fix for the problem that the transmitter does not turn off properly when using the original Flysky module.

If you go here: http://code.google.com/p/eepe/source/br ... vn%2Ftrunk, you may also download eepskye. This is the PC program that is compatible with ersky9x and will do the downloading for you. It is included in eePeInstall.zip. I had to put it in a .zip file as googlecode have blocked the downloading on .exe files!

If you wish, you may also use the 'latest' test version of the firmware, posted here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4676. I currently use this version for my actual flying. The only problem you might have with it is there are some significant changes, particularly to the way the menus work, compared to the information in the manuals.

For programming the alarms and voice in general, using the latest TEST versions that Mike linked above, please have a look at this little guide:

Thanks Mike. I am not very computer literate so I will try that ersk9xr with the plus's should work fine. I just want to have more model memory and sounds for some switches and maybe figure out voice for minutes flying. Thanks again.

For the pro you don't use avrdude and you don't use eepe.. You use eepskye.. Have a look at this manual..

eepskye.exe is installed in the same directory as eepe. You may need to create a shortcut to it for yourself. To flash the firmware, go into the BURN|CONFIGURE menu and make sure "Use SAM-BA" is NOT ticked. Then switch the Tx on with both horizontal trims held inwards. The Tx should start in "bootloader" mode. Now plug in the USB cable, then run eepskye.

Thanks a lot Mike. You gave a lot of good information. I installed ersk9xr and am playing with it. I like it so far. I will have to play with it more to figure out the sounds and voices portion. Thanks again for your great help. :D

Hk messed up the voice pack they put in the radio, at least on the first batch. Lots of files were missing. Now I don't know. Please download another one here if you didn't do it already. Then you can compare to the one you have in the radio.

viewtopic.php?f=122&t=5680

If you installed the latest test version of ersky9x you can download any of them but if you installed the latest release then I recommend the one called "Voice Files For 9XR Pro With Er9x.zip"
