First I must say - very well done. Helicopters are particularly difficult to do because there is so much background in pieces to remove as the first step.

Are there any objection if I was to add these new Heli and viper to the one massive .zip on post #1? (appropriate credit in the post will be given)

I should renew my efforts here -- I have 65 more in large pictures ready to work on.
Scott I'm almost sure there is no objection, both Michele and Rosario will be happy and proud to be included in the collection

Also I think it might be good to avoid the (1) in duplicate names, maybe -1 or just a 2 at the end?
Did you download from the first post, or another? I'm trying to keep the zip on the first post updated and corrected.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll work it over and make additions and corrections. What I'd really like to make is a catalog with full names, file names, image, and "notes" -- say manufacturer - or whatever. Just takes time. :)

Scott,

I surely appreciate all of your efforts in creating these model files as well as your videos. Together with all of the work done by the FW developers this project (Taranis) is the most exciting thing I have experienced in RC radio technology.

Updates, Corrections, Credits and new Catalog uploaded on Post #1. I added a couple new ones from my wife's photographs - the Wilga and the GeeBee Sportster.

@Ted - Thanks.

Hi Scott,

it is a great idea to collect and organize all model icons and, as Romolo already told you, it is a pleasure for us to cooperate!

Thanks,

Hi all.

I don't suppose there is any chance of adding the Multiplex Dogfighter and Richter Weasel Evo too ?.

Brilliant romolo !!

Now.....how about these ones too.

Speedo Pro Mk.II glider
Lanyu E-fair EP glider
BritFlight Hustle EP
Hawker Hurricane
Spitfire Mk.IX
Thunder Tiger eHawk 1500 EP glider.

Any of these would be fantastic, as I'm sure other Taranis owners would be most grateful too.

Keep up the excellent work !!.

The model artwork is now so easy to get access to in C9x under the setup tab. The Developers really outdid themselves on this one. When configured as shown below -- all you need to do is type in the name of the icon you want and it appears. You can optionally use arrow keys to scroll through the icons.

The only thing is the preferences must be set up correctly.

The preferences need to be set up so the SD card is selected in the "SD Structure Path"

In my case that is the "F" Drive. Don't make the mistake of setting the SD card Structure Path to the "Taranis" volume - it might seem logical, but in general leave that volume alone. "E" in my example.

The artwork needs to be included in the folder "BMP"

Scott,

Would this not work with the path set to a folder in the C:\ drive?

Will work as well.

The logic is to have a copy of your sd on a local drive as well

BTW the icon will be shown also in the emulator.

Yep a copy in a local folder might be preferable, as otherwise the images / sounds etc would only be available for selection when the radio is actually connected to the pc.

What Andre' and Romolo said is (of course) correct. My reason for demonstrating it this way relates directly to a conversation Wayne and I had today. Our conversation was related to the surprising number of customers that have no computer savvy. I can't remember exactly the number he stated, but a surprising % of customers don't know about openRCForums or RCGroups.

My approach was to make it as simple as possible, both to execute and to understand. It might not seem like it would be difficult to keep a folder in sync, but I work closely with individuals that are less than computer savvy and I can say for sure that it would tax them greatly.

To avoid data corruption in the radio, the item selected in the eeprom will always be present in the list even if there is no SD Structure path set or if the selected file is not present. In such a case the name will be shown but obviously the image will not.

Scott (and other model icon 'designers'), I have been holding off asking, hoping that someone would create a model icon for the F-18, but, when someone gets a chance, is it a possibility that one could be created. I have been looking at all of the icons created and I have not seen the F-18. Of course, it is possible that I have overlooked it. Thanks..

Also, I have been trying to play with my own model icons and splash screens, but, I have yet to find an application (software) that will store an image as 1, 2 or 4-bit grayscale (.bmp, .png, .jpeg). Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks..

I use IrfanView (Image -> Decrease Color Depth -> 16 colors and tick "make grayscale image").

Scott, a patch for the Taranis display had been posted. Any chance you could try it and show it if it works on a utube quick video. Talk about getting hits!

depending in which folder you have copied them you may need to grant full control to everyone in the SD structure path.
Expecially if they are under C:\Program...\
