Will this do? The .bmp files are in the .zip file.

EDIT: Yikes-- should have checked the next page... TCat was all over it and I was sleeping.

I just made 8 more custom splash screens with various warbirds instead of jets. The bitmaps can be extracted from the zip file below.

Here some JPEG's of what the splash screens look like:

Okay, here are some P51 splash screens. There is one P51 Warbird, and the other two are a P51 Strega Reno Racer, and a P51 Voodoo Reno Racer :D.

Edit: I just fixed one of the images (the voodoo because I changed the directions the plane was facing but it also reversed the Voodoo text on the side of the plane. So, I made the plane go the opposite direction so the text reads normally instead of backwards. I also fixed the zip file with the changes. If you downloaded it, please re-download it for the correct picture that is now shown.

Some more superlative work! I'm keeping these updated in the first post "generic splash screens". If anybody notices any missing please let me know. I need to do an update on the icons soon.

This week is taken up getting "Target Planes" ready for another charity fund raiser this weekend. Public can shoot 20 paint balls at aircraft for $5. Various prizes as well. Also having to practice flying in and tight so they have a reasonable target to hit. (yes all sorts of safety precautions are being taken).

In honor of RCG's "Tram" - The proprietor of SuperflyRC.com possibly joining the Taranis community I made an icon of his aircraft and also a splash screen with an area for the user to add their name.

Hope this will do. You had 99% of the work done already.

Download the Zip file - the BMP is in it.

Graphic creation is not a cook book activity. If you have some graphic skills it's very easy. Your final size will be 212 pixels x 64 pixels. The format is .bmp. The bit depth is 4 bits greyscale.

If you don't have graphic skills, then you will need to choose graphic editor and time to learn to use it. Most graphic editors have many "how to" youtube videos readily available. The graphic editor will need the ability to create 4 bit .bmp images. I don't have a list of what does - but I use photoshop which does. Graphic editors range between free and very expensive.

I do have fair bit of graphic knowledge :) Can use photoshop pretty well.. But i am not able get it done :(

I tried to create couple of images, but when i flash FW using that image as start screen. The images appear as tilled.

One of the sample images i have attached here:

Or i might be creating files correctly but not flash them in the right way :? :?

This is what i do.

1. Read the current FW from my radio
2. open the start screen editor and swap the image or flash the firmware which i have read with a new start screen.

Am i doing following steps correctly?

Are you making sure your splash image is a .bmp file and a 4-bit greyscale?

It says its a .gif. It needs to be a .BMP

at step two. You didn't say you saved the firmware after the swap.

2 things to check.

I cannot attach BMP here hence i converted image to GIF and attached. Yes i saved the firmware before i flash it. Hence i see the new start screen but tilled.

http://s20.postimg.org/akql1enj1/new.png (weird after upload the extension changed to png)

Here is the file detail on my computer: http://grab.by/zfjg

one more method for flashing that i use is.

1. read the fw
2. Write same fw again but select new start screen from the pc.

I get the same result. i will try to post image here.

What transmitter are you making the splash screen for?? My instructions of 212 x 64 are for a Taranis.
