Turn LED lights on and off using a switch on QX7?

I have this LED light kit installed on my HK Tundra airplane:

The lights are plugged into channel 7 on my Rx and I tried setting the input for channel 7 to one of my switches, but nothing happens. Also tried adding it to the mixer but still nothing. just stays one. What might I be missing? Can't seem to find a straight answer. I followed one video but only difference is I'm not using a Turnigy switch. just the supplied power pack with the lights plugged into it and it plugged into the Aux2/channel 7 port on the Rx.

This shows no signal wire so doesn't appear to be controllable, just always on.
Hence a Turnigy switch to turn it off in the video you saw...
