Same here.
Haven't checked lately though, it dates back to a year ago and the first Taranis mass storage tests. I tried pretty much everything I had between 512MB and 64GB.

Hi Kilrah, Maybe I've got a problem on my system. Any suggestions ?. Anything I can check ?. Mind you once mounted, it is extremely fast, reading or writing. I am running Rev 3 board.

Hmm didn't see the section this was in... I don't have a sky9x board, only taranis. But there's no fundamental reason for that to be slower on it, although the Atmel USB library might do things differently for some reason.

Mike,
I have flashed my other radio RevB board with R198. SD mounting time drastically reduced (4GB card), 3- 4 seconds. Meanwhile my TX with the 64GB card, (Rev 3 board), is still taking 35 - 40 seconds to mount. Once mounted though it is as quick on read/ write as the 4GB card.

João,
No I have not tried that yet. Remember it is impossible to retrieve the card from the RevB board without dismantling the radio and completely removing the main board (last resort kind of job), ie no slot cut in case card access. I have however acquired two new cards, 4GB and 64GB. When I get home tonight I will try them alternatively in the Rev 3 TX for comparison. I will post the results.

Mike,
I have just tested new 64GB and 32GB cards with identical files as my original 64GB card. I did also try to use a 4GBcard but it turned out to be faulty:
32GB card over 10 operations mounted in 19 -20 Secs.
64GB card over 10 operations mounted in 38 - 40 Secs.
That's fairly proportional to me. A 4GB card on this ratio basis would mount in approx 4 - 5 Secs. It seems the system may be reading/ verifying entire card contents before mounting. If so can it be sorted ?. No hassle, as I want to have that sort capacity anyway for future dev. Is there are any other checks I can make ?. I will leave the radio open for the time being just in case.

Joao,
The 4GB turned out to be faulty (maybe poor quality), but I did try a new 32GB and 64GB class 10. The mounting time was fairly proportional. 32GB mounted in 19 - 20 Sec, the 64GB mounted in 38- 40 Secs. Have you got any other ideas I could check out ?.

Stan I think the test you just did proves that all is ok and it just needs time to mount bigger cards. As Kilrah said you could use small cards as normally the files we use are fairly small. I have a 8Gb card on mine only because I didn't have smaller at the time. But I will get a 2Gb soon as I could use the other card on other applications. 2Gb should be more than enough even if one day I have background music :) ;)

Joao,
No problem. I can live with it either way, as lond as I know it is cool. To start with I thought I had a problem, but it seems I was giving up just before it mounted. Now I know I can always make coffee and wait. Kill 2 birds with the same stone as they say. Prior to r198 the size never seem to matter as operation was normal with any size card I used, but as I say. NO PROBLEM. :D

So can you confirm that when you used to connect, before the bootloader was done, the 64Gb card mounted in just a few seconds, not 35 or so?

If that is the case, I must have something different in the bootloader, it is supposed to be the same!

I've done a change to the bootloader (standard SKY board) when it reads blocks from the SD card. This seemed to me to speed up the mounting of a 4Gb card.
I've put a test version here:
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... 894#p65894

Because it is a change to the bootloader you need to use SAM-BA to flash it. I'm considering a method that would allow the bootloader to be updated from the main program.

Correct, it's really for Skylark to test with his 64Gb card. If it works it will also get into the 9XR in due course.

Mike, I confirm. I have been using the 64GB card for at least 2 months or so prior to R198. It mounted in reasonable time hardly noticeable to the performance of 2GB and 4GB I used before. That's why I was caught out. it took that long, I must have given up seconds before it would have mounted. Even so once it is mounted it is as blindingly fast as the other sizes I have tried. Hope this helps.
Stan.
Mike just saw your post. Will do asap and report back.

As usual you are right on the button. The card mount time is now reduced to 16 seconds, consistent over 10 attempts.

I have trouble uploading new firmware to my rev B board.
Currently running R88.......
I can read the transmitter alright trough eepsky i can read and write eeprom.
But i can´t update to some newer firmware.
I have mounted a 2Gb SD card with JHSA:s voicepack.(Thanks JHSA :) )
But cant read it since it´s to old firmware.
I´ve been searching for 3-4 hours now but i havn´t had no sucsess yet.
Probably super simple but not for me.

What version of eepskye are you using?
With recent versions, you will find a "review output" option in the burn menu. After a failure using SAM-BA to flash, this option displays the text produced when trying to flash. You can copy it out and post it here so we can see what might be going wrong.
