Albeit a little bit off topic, could you elaborate on the full setup of your quad ?cre8tiveleo wrote:$15 ebay. Free shipping. Hk is slowerazz wrote:Where did you get the frame from?

PIPO ISU - stabilization board
Link to frame, what motors, esc's, flight controller board?
Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
Flight controller board is obvious, isn't it?
The design is from someone in Israel and it's basically a X525. ESC's are unmodified HK 30A controllers. I plan to flash them when I get the time but for now they are doing an adaquate job.
Motors are an awesome gift I got from someone. I can't remember the name right now (I'll check in a little while) but they are very strong (crashwise) and smooth.
Props are 8x4, battery is a 2200mah, 3s.
That's about it.

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
Mine is a X525, 4 x Turnigy 2830 1100kv , 4 x Towerpro heli esc's @ 40a (stock firmware), Rabbit flight controller, and a hk v3 flight controller, 7amp 5v bec for rx and fc, and hopefully a pipo isu when I can get it. 4 x 9x4.5 three bladed props = 10x6 prop, 2x3400mah 3s and 1x1200mah 2s battery. Also for my quad, 4 x 860kv motors and 4x g32 @ 600kv for some tests of the frames limits. (I have G60's but that would be way way way overkill)
Everything (Rabbir FC is NOT from HK) I listed is available from HK. (I didn't get it all from HK, the frames I got well before they started to sell it)

I want to be the first guy to bring a multi rotor to our field but I have no idea where to start. It doesn't help that I am cheap.
Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
It's really very very simple.
1 Frame
4 Motors
4 esc
1 rx
1 control board.
Radio you already have.

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
It's easy, can be done I less than 3 hours with basic stuff. Except for the flight controller a complete Quad can be done for less than $100 If you need to buy every thing. If you have some spare motors and ESC's then all you probably need to buy is a controller and some prop sets (cw/ccw) if you do a quad, or standard props can be used for a Tri.
If you want more info feel free to ask.
Warning and Disclaimer:
I take no responsibility for you losing interest in Hellis and Planes once you start playing with multi rotors.
I also take no responsibility for you spending lots of beer money on them.

Actually, if you just want a dead simple quad you could go with the HK board which is simpler and costs less:

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
No! don't get the HK board ...it's only use is collecting dust. I have one and if any one wants it ....there is far better options out there. Pipo is one ....and seeing this is the Pipo thread I will not list the others, but be carefull on the controller, it will make or break your quad/multirotor ...
I have many flight controllers ....Tested a lot of them .... Now what works and what not. (Pipo is one of the ones on the "does work" side of the list)
The one good thing about the pipo is you have a choice of software you can use, it's based on well known hardware.

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
I'm starting to twitch. I think I have a few 2212-06 2200kv motors and 30amp esc's. Are these too fast for a quad?
Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
What size battery does a quad that size use? I have mainly 2200 and 1000 3S and a few 2200 4S.
Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
And it's all in stock. *twitch*

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
I got it before errazz did this thread, and I got it at around the same price. *Rabbit cf controller plus sonar* I also have gps units that are 5 and 10hz that work with it without issues. Other fc's I've had issues with.GrootWitbaas wrote:ABBC3_OFFTOPICWhy you use a Rabbit ??? I think all the beer got you into buying that right ?
Did I mention a friend of mine is a Molsons rep... I get coupons for free beer.
I buy things that are new and like to play with them. I'm impressed with what the rabbit can do.
Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
Thanks Groot. Appreciate your comments
I am working hard to make the board work even better. Need to keep promises!
Crucial,
I think those motors are on the "hot" side. I would go with 8x4 props and a 3S 2200mah battery. The 30A controllers are great.
Stop twitching. Start buying! I agree, once it works it's absolutely amazing for some reason.
Oh, btw, I just ordered 4 micro motors and 4 small esc's. Going to make a CD sized quad to fly through the office

Noooo! I'll end up with a fleet of these things. Care to link to the mini frame and motors? I take it the pipo is small enough to use on the mini's?

Erazz, is there a V3 board coming? or just order a V2 board? *itchy trigger finger*
Mmmm... more flight controllers.. can't have too many of them!

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
No v3 on the horizon.
The current unit performs just fine and it's the one that I'm putting all the effort into.
It's already one of the smallest and lightest as is.
Though I really like the STM32 platform, it's really not needed here. The only advantage as far as I can tell is a built-in USB.

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
hahaha I also just spend more than I should have on buying small motors for a micro quad ...160mm motor to motor (defonzo frame)....I'll have to post a build log for it some where on this forum ...
Personally I love the Naze32 (not the real Naze, but the FF clone by TC) and if there is one thing I would like to see on Pipo V3 then it will be a 35x35mm size with mounting holes and on board USB. Also make the option to sell it without the pins installed (I use mostly 90° ones, and normally don't connect to all. On micro quad every g counts ...that said ...it's a pity we need 5v, for the Micro I want to use single sell LiFePo4 or A123
ABBC3_OFFTOPIC
Now I think this Forum has grown from catering for 9x to full blown RC ....

n the rabbit ...well ermmm yes ....I am with TC about they use MW code but it's closed

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
Oh, you can order Pipo without the pins. Just ask
I didn't want to go the 35x35 route since there are way too many boards at that size. Want to go smaller and have more options.
How about 16 channels output and SBus/PXX input?

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
Pxx in sure 16Ch ...erm now I need to spend more to add more to use all 16 how about replacing the compass you removed with a 2102 usb-uart ...make space for at least 2 mounting holes and if possible can you use standard 6pin header for isp ( I remember you said the pin layout was to save space), or are you gonna stick with just a boot loader ?
Are you doing the mixer in Qt ? I ask to know if it will run on mac. Have you a beta?
PS @ erazz have you seen my post here and maybe a answer ?

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
You could just as easily plug a FTDI to pin 1 and 2 of the output to get uart. Tell you what, let's continue this off thread.

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
Props, 3 or 2 blade? Are GWS props ok? There are only 9 frames left and I am about to order and I only have a few things left to add.
Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
How hot can you get these quads go? I have some 40A ESC laying around(mainly spares for my heli) and plenty 3S or 4S lipo. To max that ESC, what motor/prop I can use to max the esc's potential? that x525 appears to be a pretty big quad (60cm).
If I use different types of ESC (but all 40A rated), would that cause a problem for quads?
I am thinking once Erazz's board is ready, i may try one out too.

Re: PIPO ISU - stabilization board
I don't want to hurt my sales but Groot has gotten me interested in a badder board.
I don't want to try to bite off too much but it looks like a 32bit board with an integral USB connection is possible.
Going to draft something up tonight.
Either way, I will not abandon the current PIPO line. I have a commitment to make it work well as intended!
