A friend and I are building RX Controlled switches similar to these but smaller, and with more features and we're looking for suggstions for more features we can add.
Our units have two outputs allowing us to alternate flashing etc
The units can be daisy chained so you can run more than one unit on a single channel, or in the afterburner example below it can be placed directly on the throttle channel. They also support automatic detection of PPM-SUM (CPPM) and can be configured to monitor a single channel, or you can have many all on the same cable monitoring different channels. We're also thinking about allowing one output to run from one channel, while the other runs from a different channel in PPM-SUM mode which would be good to drive LED's on one channel and a lost alarm on another
Currently we have the following features
Outputs on (high signal), Outputs off (low signal), Outputs flashing (middle signal). This last state is good for seeing a failsafe condition as LED's will flash on failsafe
- this is a normal setup for turning LED's on or off from the TX
Car Indicator/blinker setup: One output flashing (low signal), Second output flashing (high signal), both outputs off (middle signal)
- this can be used on a car for indicators
Police car strobe type effects, 3 fast flashes on one output, then three fast flashes on the other on high signal
- good for police car lights or other warning type situations
Normal strobe effect, one output flashes, then the other, then a pause, on high signal, otherwise off
- could be used on plane wingtips or boats for port/starboard lights
We also have a PWM output option that could drive a brushed motor up to 10A from a stick or POT input.
We're also planning on adding an "afterburner" mode where one or both channels will turn on upon a very high signal, this could be connected directly to the throttle channel and drive some afterburner lights. Another mode that will be included will be a lost alarm mode.
We've had a friend suggest making this into a landing gear controller to open landing doors, then dropping the gear, and doing the reverse on low signal. That's possible but would likely be a different firmware and may need some other mods. Maybe we'll do that in V2 boards
So, with all that said, does anyone have any other suggestions for useful modes for driving LED's or other devices from the TX?
We both came from a multi rotor background so don't know what people would like for planes, boats or cars.
I should mention, we have V1 hardware already and are currently coding features

Yep, these firmwares can do most of the mixes, just needing normal tiny RC switches for most applications..
Like the complicated sequence of landing gear and it's bay doors.
But for other radios it is a great idea.. I'm sure that even with opentx and er9x people would find some application for this switch..

- 1-channel input power (normal, a PPM-18mS)
- Each channel (common jumper switchable) with LED
feedback
- 2 jumpers and setup,
- 59mm x 33mm PCB size,
- 16g weight
The "LED" may be inscribed above the internal jumper indicator LEDs turn on and off (open
= disabled). This will reduce fuel consumption.
Different functional parameters:
RCS-1A (Airplane) program:
- Automatic detection servo direction,
- 1 proportional output (PWM)
- 3 Navigation Light chanel (wing, fuselage light, nose-landing)
- 1 Output Signal Lost,
- 1 Time-out (adjustable: 0.5s, 1s, 5s, 10s period),
- 2 three-way universal output.
RCS-1B (car model) program:
- Jumperelt servo direction,
- 1 pre-gas-proportional output (PWM)
- 2 output index (right and left),
- Signal Lost event jam indicator (index)
- 2 American Style bilux output

Oh it's significantly smaller than that, it's smaller then the original one I linked. Mixes work for some things but running LED's isn't one of them without some hardware on the other end. Of course ours doesn't have 9 outputs, only 2cre8tiveleo wrote:Make it like this one, but smaller...

After some more reworking we should be able to add two servo outputs on the unit too. This will allow landing gear with doors to be connected as well as driving two FET's for LED's etc.
We're also looking to add S.BUS support and we'll likely be able to shrink it a little more too. At least that's the current plan. How many people actually use S.BUS setups?
