price range? do they have any picture? special features? bluetooth?

now we are going to select between ersky9x board, 9xr radio, or x12D...

I'll be going with the one that has er9x and model match and SD or CF card slot and the freaking screen on top rather than on the bottom. Man I hope they put the screen where it can be seen when flying. O ya... and import mp3 sounds .. .ya.. that's all I want... maybe build in camera and color touch screen too? I'm not asking for too much am I?

Not until you/we see it's limitations. As I posted before, great products but Frsky seems to take a very long time to get their rumored products in the market place and then it's many times replaced with a newer version after that.
With FPV and Quads being so hot right now ther's still room for a powerful tx board that can support custom FW. Ersky9x with the help of the brain power here has the potential to expand a lot. Will Amy of the new rumored systems have the CPU and ram power? Same with eraz9x.
Maybe a smaller market but a market.
My delema is to decide what to do about my 2 FlySky systems on prepaid BO at leaders?
I hate store credit!
I guess cancel one on speculation and get the other one for parts or resale at my club field in the wake of all these rumors. One or all will most likely come true in due time.

That said, without great FW none of these systems would be any good so MikeB and Eraz, and all those that write the code and hardware updates are even more important to us all. Without them these new products will remain toys. That's what got us all here in the first place.

Unless they actually copy your design, I don't think it will be as flexible. They are looking at using an ARM processor, with a FREE RTOS.
We don't know how far they have got with it though, I'll try to get some more info, and where they are, e.g which ARM processor, and prototype stage etc.
They ought to be talking to Brent since he has a working design, and we know which pins need to go where, and from the prototyping and REVB testing we know what problems there have been. They are offering the 'protocol and diagram' open to all.

I'd be surprised if they are only using PPM, they need PXX to get 12 channels.

What would I do for a hobby?

This could be the answer for people like myself who have very limited means to do mechanical modifications to TX's.

If this comes off, it could also help to fill a black hole that seems to have formed concerning the lack of avalability of the 9X. Part of that is generated by the many Sharks that are looking for a fast profit by reselling the gear (modified or not) to people who are frustrated at the usual suppliers not having any stock. No doubt they buy up as much stock as they can, hence why the suppliers almost instantly go out of stock when they get new stock in.

The market is crying out for something like this.

The ersky9x board actually requires very little in the way of mechanical modifications. You just unscrew the stock board, and screw the ersky9x board in. Access to most of the new connectors involves cutting or drilling a few holes in the base of the transmitter. Telemetry may be wired from the back of the DJT module to one of these connectors. Adding a speaker (not necessary but nice) involves wiring a speaker to the plug (supplied) and plugging it in to the audio socket.

The whole beauty of the er9x and ersky9x projects from my point of view is that they are totally unlimited in what they
are capable of achieving, thanks to the continued support of the great programmers here.
If you want something "off the shelf" go ahead, it's your choice.
As Mike said, it's pretty easy to fit the ersky9x board, if you can builld a model aeroplane you can certainly do it!
Some twist drills and some needle files, it's not that difficult.
When you finish it, you can claim "I did that" (at least the easy bit!)

Just got this from Aloft today

We are pleased to have formed a very good relationship with FrSky, so good in fact that they release their new products through Aloft Hobbies! The Lipo Voltage Sensor and the LCD Mounts are a couple of recent examples. Our next shipment will include the new telemetry 8 channel receiver, the D8R-XP. The XP will replace the SP and offers CPPM, RSSI and the choice of an internal or external A1 voltage port. Many more exciting items are nearing production!

FrSky news would not be complete without telling you about the X12D transmitter that is in development. This radio has some impressive specs: 12 channels (expandable to +6), ARM M4 core processor, 212*64 LED back-light LCD, Audio earphone output, 32 native memories + SD card (data logger + extended memories), Three modes selectable: V8 (non-telemetry 8ch); D8 (telemetry 8ch); D16 (telemetry 16ch) with model match. FrSky is still working on testing and software but expects to have this radio available in the third quarter of 2012. Perhaps the best news about this new radio is that it is based on the open-source approach, so there should be a lot of great development from the community, and that ARM M4 processor means there is plenty of power to do some really amazing things.

Any mention of stick quality?

Any ideas on what this means? I'm not familiar with XJT or D16 modules?

JR slot for all FrSky radios, with new powerful JR type module - XJT (we called it D16 module before).

No idea about price yet. XJT module is the new version of the DJT.
Stick quality should be good, supposedly they come from JR.

Only 'price' details are speculative. About a year ago frsky mentioned something like $150

But to be honest.. this was so long back and development of the product had not moved forward; so really cant be relied on!

But would be nice if it was!

Any idea what the X stands for in the XJT?
I know we're all guessing.

No confirmation yet, but what they said back then was that existing modules and receivers would get a firmware upgrade.
BUT, they also said the new modules/receivers would have some hardware differences, so some of the new features would not be useable with the old ones.

Any chance the FW upgrade will include the 16ch capability for DJT. don't care about the model matching. and any hint on 'etc...'

16CH was supposed to be part of the upgrade, yes...
