How to install and configure Trainer over Bluetooth..

erskyTx runs on many radios and upgrade boards
ersky9x was a port of er9x for use on the sky9x board.

On 9XR Pro I using the HC-05 without that big and ugly Base Board and I soldered all wires directly to the main PCB.
EDIT:
*WARNING! Other boards may gives you 5V instead of 3.3V and without Base Board can fry the HC-05 BT modul!*
You can see that on the beginning of my video..

Yeah, but make sure you are supplying 3.3V otherwise you will fry it.. Ny removing the other board, you are removing the voltage regulator as well.

If you can, please post a couple good pictures (both sides) of your Bluetooth module.

Yeah. My mistake..
Now I remember before I did, I checked that 9XR Pro already given 3.3V on the power pin.
But if some other boards have 5V on that pin really can fry the modul.
I try editing my previous post, for not make a risk for someone else who may just will read that..

Ok it looks like you have the same module I used.. But I am not at the computer now, and my phone's screen is quite small.
Please read the first post of this thread. You might have to cut a little track on your module.

I carefully read this topic. But I do not have a track on my board that needs to be cut. Does the module itself need to be programmed on the Arduino board? When connecting the module to the transmitter HQ7 in normal mode, I can not replace anything. Only in the AT programming mode, the MASTER mode is displayed on the screen, but the connection speed and password are also not edited. You can change the connection type and connection destination. With what it can be connected? Maybe you need another firmware for the transmitter?

About the hardware:
Just check with multimeter may your pin34 connected with another (example 26) pin. If not, you can directly soldering the "erase"wire on it or using the"enable" pin if that also disconnected from any other pin.
I guess that wire do that, when we switch on the transmitter adjust the bt modul in "AT command" mode and read/configure the settings.

About the menu:

I believe under the "Bluetooth" menu the "Configure" point normally should to do same (switch the bt modul in AT command mode and read/write/store the settings in the bt flash without restart/reboot the whole transmitter)
But I'm not sure this is how should work or which settings can be stored with that and which may request full reboot.. (?)

As I found that example I can change the connection speed in different menu point (Radio Setup -> General -> 2nd Page "Bt baudrate" ), but after I must to restart/reboot the transmitter and just after shows that new baudrate under the "Bluetooth" menu as well.
In my point of view may that point unnecessary in the "General" menu and that may can pull and work just under the "Bluetooth" menu. (?)

I can change the Master/Slave modes and that most of the time looks works instantly, but sometimes "UNKNOWN" appear there and I don't know that why happens. After reboot the transmitter, always shows the mode correctly.

I also found that, the layout was also modified compared with older firmware what I see on Joao's video. The name of the module "went" upper and became changeable, and the "List" menu point appeared, but not on the left side on the screen, so may there (left) something missing, or just somehow found better there and placed in the second column under the "Configure" point. (?)

About the password (default 1234) may can be changeable for security reason?

I guess Mike can help to inform us about those questions or if it's necessary and possible fix/upgrade the fw.

Because I'm not sure any of those things are bug(s) or not, I don't know this post here is better or in the bugfix thread..

I don't think there are any bugs on the bluetooth. :)
Sometimes when we don't know how to work with the things we immediately think that something is wrong with it :)
Also I think the password cannot be changed. it comes programmed on the module itself. the radio just has to send it to be able to connect. perhaps no need to display it though..

No, if I using an arduino or any ttl converter with at commands easy to change the password (or any other settings, for example name or baudrate..) . I will do that if I'll arrive to home and let see ERSkyTX will read that or not. I bet it will.. ;)

I using same BT modules for my 3dr clone telemetry modules (the ground side) and also for my 323BGC 3axis camera gimbal to wireless settings.
On both module I changed names and passwords. First because I have to know which bt is for which equipment and second the security purpose, because I don't want to risk that somebody connect for my telemetry with default 1234 or 0000 password and easy control my aircraft with mission planner (pc) or tower (android).

I believe erskyTX just send s the default passwort to the BT module so it connects, And that is what is shown in the menu.. :)
But Mike knows better than I. ;)
But I also think it would be cool if we could change the password with the radio..

Yeah.. That's why I'm wasn't sure about this was implemented already (so may those are bugs) or actually found new requests to implement new features.. ;) :D
But I believe Mike is that type of developer who happy to hear both... :) And of course we all very thankful and happy with his job. :)

I have worked sometimes with this hc-05/hc-06 and many other bluetooth modules. I used them for serial communication what I mentioned before and also for Control music players with A2DP protocol.. All of those modules can setting by sending AT commands..
I think to change master-slave mode and change name of the module.. etc. Mike already used this method (switch the modul to receive at commands) so extend that with some new extra feature just could be limited if he needs to save some byte for another purpose in the flash memory..
But hopefully possible to implement these things. :)

As far as I know, a bug is something that is implemented but doesn't work correctly. as far as I know all the implemented BT features work as they should.
You can ask Mike nicely to implement the BT password feature :)

Yes exactly that I wrote. So we know now it's not a bug, but hopefully he find interesting to implement it as a new feature. ;)
And also may he think make sense move the baudrate settings from the General to Bluetooth menu. (And may save some bytes with that.. I don't know to be honest..) ;)

I am not sure, but I think that baudrate setting is not only for the bluetooth, and it might be one of the reasons it is not in the BT menu

The password is stored in the module, currently I read it out and display it.
When time permits, I'll have another look at handling the BT module.

Hello,

I'm in the process of installing a HC-05 Bluetooth module in my Turnigy 9x with Smartieparts 9xtreme board.
Desoldered the header and added wires to the HC-05. Removed the button and cut the trace between EN and VCC.
When I measure, there is still contact between Pin 34 and Pin 26. There is also contact between EN and pin 26. See the att. for the current state.

Is what I measure correct and can connect it to the 9xtreme without smoke?
