I've got an initial fix for this, making it display a number on that screen instead of the name, but still displaying the name on other screens. This way, at least, the display appears correct.

Please respect Mike's request in the very first line of the first post: THIS IS NOT A THREAD FOR DISCUSSION.

It's a place for test versions of the firmware. Let's keep it for that important purpose. There are other threads on which to discuss things, or you can start your own.

It depends what radio you have. Each version is for a different transmitter. As requested above, please do NOT use this thread for questions or discussion.
Find the right thread for your radio and ask there.

Mike, the ersky9xProvR221c5.zip file for the ar9x board seems to not work, the previous c4 seems to work ok.
c5 seems to work ok for the pro and the 9extreme.
The old bootloader 1.7 only loaded the "s" smaller file. The new 2.4 bootloader loads the full ersky9x file.
Thanks Mike, its amazing what you can do.

I flashed my Ar9x with the "c5" and it works, apart from a bug or two..
What do you mean by "It doesn't work"? That is a bit vague :)
Doesn't the radio turn on at all?

How are you flashing the AR9X, bootloader or SAM-BA.
Try using the file ersky9xs_rom.bin. With "c5", the .bin now exceeds 256K, this 's' version removes most of the languages so makes it smaller (for the SKY board really).

I also tried to flash my ARuni Board with ersky9x_rom.bin, which also fails.
After power on I got only some pixel on my screen and it seems that it boots every second. Only a "blubb" comes out of the loudspeaker. Additional I can not switch the board off. I have to plug in an USB cable and switch it off out of the bootlaoder.
Firmware ersky9xs_rom.bin works.

Ralf

Edited to change the file you use to update the bootloader!!

If you are having trouble flashing "c5" to the AR9X or ARuni boards, please report what version of the bootloader you have.
Please also try flashing ersky9xs_rom.bin.
Then copy the file ersky9x_rom.bin to the firmware directory of the SD card, start in maintenance mode and update the bootloader from ersky9x_rom.bin, then try flashing ersky9x_rom.bin.
I just flashed this to my AR9X and it works OK.

I am on version 1.9 from boot loader.
Before I can update I have to install the left trim button of the right gimbal. I will do it tomorrow.
Then I will test it as you proposed.
Thanks and regards
Ralf

After updating the bootloader to newest version I could flash ersky9x_rom.bin on my ARuni Board.

Let's not turn this into a discussion thread!

It's supposed to be a place for Mike to post ErSky9x test versions.

PLEASE POST DISCUSSIONS ON THE APPROPRIATE THREAD.

Mike,
Can you point me to where the released version of r220 for 9XRPro is stored, please? These pages are for test versions, which I use, but I want to update a friend's r204 to the most recent 'released' version of r220 and I want to use a 'fresh' copy, not the unreleased 'test' copy that I have stored away.
Thanks and regards,
ozphoenix.

Go to: http://www.er9x.com/.
Eepskye should download the latest version for you from there anyway.

Ah, bother! Thanks - sorry to bother - I forgot about that site - was erroneously looking in Github, etc.

Much appreciated - found it now.

Mike (or anyone who also has 'hands-on' experience),
Before I go in 'boots-and-all' and upgrade my friend's 9XRPro on ErsKy9x from R204 to R220, are there any 'watch out for....' or 'gotchas' I should be aware of? I found R220 pretty stable and much better to use than R204, hence my suggestion that he upgrade, as I often get calls to 'do things' on his radio for him (including fixing his programming efforts).

I've been using my (9XRPro/Ersky9x) for about 12 months and have gradually upgraded from R204 (when I got it) to SVN: pb6r222, VERS: V.3144-Mike (now), so maybe during that gradual process there are 'things' that I have done and now don't realise or remember (like replace sound files, or needing to invert some setting, etc).

Apart from the logical things -- like back up models, back up existing EEPROM, recalibrate sticks and pots after update, etc --- are there any other major or subtle things I should remember or look out for? This friend is SUPER non-technical -- and he knows it -- but, worse, he's deathly afraid of his radio and regularly stuffs things up when he tries to program something, so I will be inheriting a support 'customer', I know, though his wife is capable of better than he, so maybe I can teach her to maintain it :)))

Apart from avoiding the upgrade altogether, any other constructive(!) suggestions?

Thanks in advance and regards,

ozphoenix.

EDIT: I did an upgrade on another radio today R218 to R220 without issue, but that's just a small jump.

I think the only change you will need to do is with the voice files. These changed from all numbered files to named files.

All good - thanks. I had thought of the voice files, but this particular fellow doesn't use any voice files, though I will update those for completeness, anyway.

I have turnigy 9xr pro. I change the aileron switch to 3pos switch but only original firmware works fine. All other of these have hardware disabled?
Why is that? I really like these new protocol and other things but without another 3 switch no no.

the hardware menu is now protected.. turn the radio ON while holding the left horizontal trim to the left for about one second. this enables the hardware menu.. Now you can enter it..

The bootloader of my AR9X board is 1.9; how I can update in order to load the 221 FW ?

V1.9 of the bootloader should work correctly to flash the test 221 firmware.

To update the bootloader:
Place the firmware file on the SD Card inside a folder called " firmware" .
Start the radio while holding both horizontal trims away from each other to enter maintenance mode. Now select "Update Bootloader". Select the firmware file you have just put on the SD card.
Press menu long to confirm and wait for the progress bar to complete. Press exit long a couple times and the radio should now reboot normally.

Nope, you need to flash the file "ersky9x_rom.bin". Not the " ersky9xT", which is for the 9xtreme radio, not the Ar9x.

Hi Mike.

I hope you still monitor this forum and don't mind my contacting you here.

I updated the firmware on my 9xr Pro to the latest version posted here as I needed to change the AIL switch to a 3 position switch and needed to re-map the switch to reflect this. Unfortunately, the "Hardware" selection in the menu is disabled. Can this be enabled or do you know of another way to register the AIL Switch as a 3 position switch? Your help would be greatly appreciated with this.

Yes, hardware menu is disabled in ersky9x to avoid people messing their radio by mistake..

to enable the hardware menu, press the left horizontal trim to the left for a second or two while turning the radio ON..
