Basically I carved a two pieces of wood out (two halves) to fit the circuit and optical sensor. Once done, inserted a couple of 'registration' pins and joined them carefully with double sided tape (so they could be parted again) and then shaped the outside. Quick bit of sanding sealer, few coats of gloss paint and a polish to give a nice finish and that provided masters for silicone moulds, so I could cast them in aluminium filled two part polyurethane resin for strength. Once cast, inserted the sensor and cyano'd the lot together. Job done.
And that is as far as I have got. Have not had chance to mount it in an intake yet to see if it affects anything downstream if in front of the fan, or gets trashed if behind the fan (unlikely as I cannot break it by hand at all!!!)
The simpleton asked "Hows about ErSky9X for Horus???". And the Genius from Dorset replied "Why not indeed? I shall get right onto it!" And then there was light on Horus! And it was good!

ah, make a case for the sensor. good idea, that would be easier to mount the shrink wrapped sensor as it came.
What did you do with the sensor part/lens? did you put a tubing in front of the sensor lens? or just let the lens exposed? the way it came in has a little tube like thing , I guess it is to block out the peripheral light. I can just tilt the sensor a bit and change the rpm reading easy.

So far I have only left the lens exposed, but it is recessed in the leading edge of the casing (think wing leading edge light set back inside a tube) . Will probably work out some form of clear cover to streamline the thing better, and to stop it getting gunked up with debris from swallowed flies and the like! hahaha

Is it now possible after the major updates?
I'll see, we still have only 2 bits allocated for the blade count, but on the ersky9x board I can probably find some other bits to extend it.

Mike.
Did you manage to make any headway into the RPM blade count increase (to 18 :D ) Mike? Not expecting of course, not in the least - just enquiring.
All the best,
Rob.

I did a lot of changes to the EEPROM structure, but I missed this one, it is still only 2 bits wide. I've got an idea though, leave it with me.

USB mass storage problem on new build

Post by preston91 »

I'm building a ersky rev. b transmitter. this is my second TX,, first works great for 6 months. this build , rather than drill out a hole for the usb, I went through a DIN connector. I loaded up rev 130 via sam ba 2.11. works OK w/ C9x. the problem is it will not go into mass storage mode. I turn the TX on wait till a plane is loaded. I plug in the usb cable and the TX goes into "USB mode" and I don't get any indication of a file available for viewing. I loaded up the SD and it plays the sound files so the card reader seems to be working. Anyone got any Ideas???

Are you using open9x or sky9x?

If I am correct, ersky9x does things differently?

But open9x should work as you are trying :)
Slope Soaring, FPV, and pretty much anything 'high tech'
...........if you think it should be in the wiki.. ask me for wiki access, then go add it!

I'm using ersky9x. what is different with the two? do I need to tie the ground shield together thru the din connector? currently have the 4 wires from the usb connector on the MB.

Now that I do not know! But I recall someone having the same question a few days back saying they had it working on ersky9x, but not open9x. (I think it was Scott)

Anyone know the correct way do the mass storage on ersky9x?

I think I have a 10 second delay on ersky9x, before that time you get the boot, after you get mass storage.
I have a comment in the code to reduce this to 2 seconds!

ERSKY9x r130 on SKY9X V. B board, the mass storage is working with my set up. once Tx is on, wait the model to load up, as Mike said about 10 sec, plug in the USB. you will hear the USB is connected. but open the file manage you won't see the drive right away. wait another few second it will show up. I have a 16G microSD and running Win7 64bit.

I get the mass storage OK when I plug into the MB USB connector, but when I run from the PC usb thru a din connector then to the usb header, it doesn't seem to start mass storage mode.
Does the MB USB connector need to be used?

Is the 5V connection extended to your DIN connector. The USB 5V is used to detect the USB cable is plugged in.
Does ordinary flashing work using your DIN connector?

yes ordinary flashing works OK.
yes the 5v line runs thru the din I ran all 4 lines from the usb header thru the din. I didnot run the shield thru the din though.

Guys, sorry if this is the wrong topic to post this question, but thought it was the most appropriate.
Anyone knows where I can get the Sky9x logo?
A vector type would be great, but a jpg whit good quality will do just fine.

I'm not sure what "the" sky9x logo is. but here is a collection of splash screens for ersky9x.

Thanks Scott. The logo is the one that's printed in the sky9x board. The splash screens have very low quallity. The last 2, in jpg, are ok, but I need the font used in the word sky. Ohh, it's not for a splash screen. I need it for something else

I guess we need to ask Brent for the artwork. I'd like to have a vector version as well - I'd use the laser cutter to etch it into my TX case.

Probably best to wait until after holidays before hitting up Brent.

Let's wait for Leo then. Meanwhile, because I'm kind of in a hurry, here's what I came up with in illustrator and the logo I pulled out of the board.

What?

But when it comes to the 9x... You don't need to do updates. That is your own choice.

I have a radio i fly with, and a radio or three that a screw with. That way there is never flying downtime!
