Ah, no wonder. Thank you. I thought it is going to beep while counting down. Just test it, it does not beep while counting down, just beeps and vibrates when timer is up. that is exactly what I wanted. ;)

ON AR9X board, can we use PB4 without replacing the ELE to 3 position switch?
The 3 position ELE switch is only tied up with the extra pot on AD8/10 right?

Yes, PB4 should work without changing the ELE switch to 3-pos.

ERSKY9x Questions Trottle Calibration Issue

Post by tshaw1 »

I installed a 9xtreme board in my new Turnigy 9x this afternoon. Everything seemed well untill I tried to calibrate my Throttle it appears to not be recognized by the system. It's little square appears on its calibration square bottom, it will move right and left but not up and down. I've gone through the calibration several times with no luck. The right hand stick seems to work well. I'm setup for mode2. Any suggestions would certainly help.

The first step is to check the 9-way connector is fully home in the connector J5. This is the connector just below the throttle/rudder Gimbal.

Please go to Radio Setup/DiagAna menu.
Look at the A2 input. It is the Left Vertical stick analog input. Does it show a value of -100 when stick down, and 100 when stick up?

Now that my initial issue is resolved. I'm having some issues determining which pc interface I can use. I see eepe, open9x and opentx out there... I attempted to use eepe first but it could not find dvrdude.exe for my first burn. So, I loaded up opentx and it worked beautifully. I now have V. 3531-Mike Date 08.01.2016 on my Transmitter. My guestion is... if I would prefer to use opentx as my interface to my Transmitter, to create Models and adjust System parameters, will this work with my current firmware on my transmitter. I don't want to destroy what I've already accomplished. If I cannot use opentx what should I be using and which version will burn without trying to figure out the drvdude.exe problem? Thanks!

You need eepskye, rather than eepe. These are installed together, in the same directory, but only eepe gets a desktop icon (a problem I hope will be fixed in the next release). Just go to the directory in which you installed eepe, and find eepskye.exe. Create a shortcut to this and then use it!

It is best if you go to http://www.er9x.com/ and download r419 of eepe/eepskye from there. Regardless of the version number this is the latest revision, I had a version number problem when moving from googlecode to Github!

Again, Thank you very much. I have eeskye running nicely now and my hardware performing as expected, with that, I'll be teaching myself how to use your Application. I find the possibilities exciting. And so happy you pointed out my plug problem.

Hi tshaw1,
Here is where you can find some good info about your new 9Xtreme Upgrade Board
installation and how to use: (viewtopic.php?f=95&t=7182).
9Xtreme firmware (radio operating system) you should update to the newest ersky9x-9xt firmware
and also to the newest PC eeprom editor eePSkye, find them here: (http://www.er9x.com/).

Hi guys

Just browsing through the telemetry on the 9xtreme

I noticed the log files option -does Ersky9x have the log file and data recovery functions like Opentx?

Yes, you may log telemetry items to the SD card. What do you mean by "data recovery" function. You may read the log files from the SD card using the bootloader connection.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the quick reply
I was thinking of the method of taking the data from the SD card and viewing it in graphical form - I'm hoping it would be compatible with Excel - I notice theres no view log files option in Eepsky

I can't find any guidance on the procedures

Do I create a log folder on the SD card?

For comparison, I checked out Companion so I thought there would be a SD log option in Logical switches but couldn't find a prompt

Could you point me in the right direction?

There are two settings near the bottom of the Telemetry menu, one to select the switch to enable/disable logging and one to choose the rate at which the data is logged.
The data is logged as a CSV file, so should load into most spreadsheet programs, including excel. Ersky9x should automatically create a "LOGS" directory if one doesn't exist.

It would be nice if eepskye could read these files sometime in the future ;)

Mike, I know that due to you having so many projects in hands at the moment and so little time to spend in one single project at the time, some ideas might take quite a long time to see the day light, if they do. ;) :) But ideas are just that and I would like to leave some here. I will probably be repeating myself on most of them :)

1 - Ability to read log files on eepskye
2 - Ability to read/view log files on the transmitter screen
3 - Ability to read log files from a smartphone/Tablet at the field.. It is not the first time that something happened, like for example, I thought i had a RF connection glitch, and would like to see the log and try to find out what happened.

4 - I will call this one "The Full Monty" because it is all the above in just one.
Ability to have eepskye as an web app so it could run in a browser, talk to the radio through Wi-Fi, download the log files and read them, as well as do all the other operations that eepskye can do, including simulating models :)

1. Clearly possible.
2. The screen is a bit small, it would probably only be possible to show one or two items, together with the time.
3. Presumably using bluetooth to transmfer the data?
4. I know!

This would be great if possible, even to share models between 2 radios. :D That'd be cool.. and useful

Following your guidance, the log function is working fine and the data loads into Excel to give useful graphs

An added bonus is that the GPS coords can be put into Google to show the flight path - brilliant!

many thanks

Mike,

I posted this question on RCG, but I'll repeat myself here as this seem to be a better place for this kind of questions.

I tried to reflash an XJT module with my AR9x board as you described earlier (place the firmware in 'Firmware' folder on SD-card, start the radio in the Maintenance mode and go to 'Update SPort' menu). But the radio doesn't go past the 'Finding Device' stage. I tried with the XJT unplugged (plugging it in only when 'Finding Device' message appears), as I believe this is the right way of doing it. I also tried to plug the XJT in advance - no difference whatsoever.

Am I doing something wrong?
Is there anything special about reflashing S.Port devices with AR9x?

I think taranis and 9xtreme radios might switch the power to the module at the right time? ;)
The Ar9x board doesn't, just like all the other skyboard type radios :)

You are correct that you should only power the XJT when finding device appears.
The AR9X (and the SKY board) don't have Sport driver hardware, so unless you have wired the Tx data with a diode to the Rx data the operation won't work.
The required wiring is here: viewtopic.php?f=97&t=4895&p=69003&hilit ... ode#p68994.

Ok, the wiring on your link is for the FTDI adapter, which is connected to a PC (as far as I understand). That one I know.

Is there a way to get a Tx line on the AR9x board itseslf? It's Ok if it requires some cutting and fine soldering, as long as it will allow to reflash SPort devices with the AR9x board.
Or is this something not possible at all?

On the AR9X board, I assume you have the SPort signal connected to the header pin labelled S.PRT. This is, I believe, just Rx1 in fact.
Beside it is a pin labelled TX1. It should just be necessary to wire this, via a diode, to the S.PRT signal.
I recall testing this operation on a SKY board, but it was a long time ago now.
