I flew zippychip1950's repaired tx several times today and everything was solid including the voice. Telemetry reported altitude and caught me going over 400 ft. Flying to a eyesight dot in the air the RSSI never went below 45/47. I just jammed it in my test plane and didn't take a lot of time routing the antenna wires. 51 is my normal lowest value for edge of field flying, I usually don't fly out to where it's a dot. At that distance I'm not sure if I'm tracking my plane or floaters in my eyeballs.
I think he'll enjoy flying it now!

I've purchased one of the last Sky9x boards available :D. My intention is to integrate it as the RC core on a self-made ground station for controlling my AP multis.

Since I want to do all the internal cabling as professional as possible, could someone list the references of all the connectors to purchase the matching female ones.

No , ones Ive seen are same size or smaller .
You could use the expansion header , it gives you access to the pins you need to try a different display.
The optrex display from Digikey 73-1352-ND was the only one that would plug in.

Which firmware and version do you have. I know that was an issue with open9x - but thought they had stomped that but awhile ago.

that happened to me too. but only twice. I am using ERSKy9X with a V.B board. both times occurred while I was switching model before the full voice is completed with 1st model. I have many switches programed when the TX is turned on or a model is selected, it will announce the name of the model and switch setting in sequence. If I change the model selection before all the announcements are finished, those two times I have experienced the voice is gone till I reboot the Tx. but it happened only twice I can't pin point where the exact link/common ground is.

I think I have done the same thing as Kaos. Switching models before it is done talking is when this seems to occur. It hasn't bothered me much or I would have reported it. I have a rev 3 board.

I've one 128X64 LCD with backlight from sparkfun arround here (LINK:LCD-00710).

Could this LCD work through the expansion header?

It looks like it would work , but you might need different config code, to get it in the right mode.

I think this uses a different chipset, so uses slightly different commands, and it also requires TWO chip selects, one for the first 64 colums and one for the second 64 colums.

Using the expansion header, we may be able to use the WRITE signal as the second chip select and tie the write line to the display low. I have run displays in this mode to test if we could free up the write signal for other uses!

The LCD driver code also needs tochange to switch to the second chip select at the correct place. I have used one of these when running er9x directly on my STK500/501 development board using a MEGA128, so I have some code (somewhere) that might be useable.

@SkyNorth Thank you for your answer!
@MikeB: Your words sound like music for me. If the code can be adapted to use this LCD it would be great for me and other people building custom TXs or groundstations since this will open up the LCD options and it's very easy to obtain and cheap. Unfortunately, the optrex display is on backorder on Digikey and shipping costs more than the LCD itself.

I will check the Sky9x expansion port pinout and LCD pinout to (try to) find pin correspondences. Willing to hear more from you.

EDIT: Even a cheaper source for the LCD ->3.1" LCD12861 Blue Display Screen Module w / Chinese Word Stock / Backlight - Green This one seems to use the same dual ks0108 chipset like the Sparkfun one but it runs on 3.3 (better) instead of 5V. Will create a dedicated post for people to contribute with known compatible LCDs and "possibles"

I loose all sounds. Has there been any solutions. This is now happening very often.
I made a really stupid mistake last week rebooting the radio while the glider was in the air. I thought my fail safe was set to last position which would give me enough time to re bind... But it wasnt :/

I found a problem on the version of ersky9x I'm building for the Taranis where the task handling the voice wasn't running often enough and caused a lock up. I'll put this fix into the 'standard' version as soon as I can.

I've put a test version here:
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... 894#p65894

It has the possible fix for the voice problem in. There are two changes:
1. The voice task runs at a higher priority than before, and has a longer time slice.
2. If there is a problem with the voice task not keeping up, it notices and doesn't lock up.

The test version has a number of other changes since the last release.

Code for a DSM module on the 9XR-PRO, with telemetry, including new telemetry screen
Remove beeper/speaker options
Sync. volume changes to voice output
Various minor bug fixes.
Change to the way curves and expo are drawn
Change to the way curves are displayed and edited
Re-arrange RF protocol items in menu
Allow option to reverse any stick (in case replacement sticks are wrong)
Add ability to use a switch to set the switch to be used when editing

I like the new way you have done the curves. And using the relevant switch to set the switch is top notch. And it just keeps on getting better!
I just need a 9X-R Pro now!!!
The simpleton asked "Hows about ErSky9X for Horus???". And the Genius from Dorset replied "Why not indeed? I shall get right onto it!" And then there was light on Horus! And it was good!

For not much more money than the Sky9x board cost including the add on paraphernalia you can get a FrSky Taranis http://boltrc.com/index.php?route=produ ... path=75_76. OR http://www.alofthobbies.com/radio-gear/ ... eries.html

I have three of the sky9x boards gathering dust, Once the Taranis become available, nobody with any savvy would spend the money I have in them.

There is also the Turnigy9XRPro which is similar, but requires additional Tx module and Lipo Battery which brings it's price up considerable from the apparent advertised price. the 9xrPro is reviewed here http://youtu.be/cdnXafZ6D8g
