Re: hardware mods for frsky
Ok.
Next we need detailed reports on updating all firmwares on tx modules and all receivers to date, how and why and when?
This includes the hub and the removal of SMD parts if an update is required.
I plan to do the updates and see what I end up with?
I'll keep and post notes and progress when I find time.

Hi,
5 months too late possibly. Most of my FrSky kit is over a year old and with the exception of the hub does no need to be updated. There are some subtle variations of fail safe that can be obtained from the V2.00 and V2.1 updates for the two-way TX modules but unless you are going to use them.............
The hubs are younger and need updating for such things as the new lipo cell checker. You need to remove C35 as per the downloadable information and you will require a FUC-03 which has the appropriate plug. FrSky led me to believe that this particular programmed is TTL level not RS232. Did two hubs yesterday no problems.
Note: The easiest way to remove a single SMD component is to use a well tinned small soldering iron. When the solder melts, the component lifts into the tinning on the iron. i.e. it floats off.
Cheers

The hub is RS-232, it's the DHT-U that is TTL.
