Replace the 9x motherboard, but can't flash er9x?

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Replace the 9x motherboard, but can't flash er9x?

Post by felix44860 »

Thank you, in advance!

I replaced the motherboard of my 9x and I got the "switch error" massage. I checked all the switches, and set them in their respected neutral position. I turn the transmitter back on the same message. tried re-flashing it I get the below message.

I also checked the switches with a multimeter.

I'm not sure how to use the "-F to override this check" command.

Any suggestions???

avrdude: AVR device initialized and ready to accept instructions

Reading | ################################################## | 100% 0.01s

avrdude: Device signature = 0x1e9412
avrdude: Expected signature for ATmega64 is 1E 96 02
Double check chip, or use -F to override this check.

avrdude done. Thank you.

I suspect your new motherboard is equipped with an Atmega128,
not with an Atmega64.
So you have to flash er9x-128.hex

and NEVER EVER use option -F
you may brick the Atmel.

Again thank you, that was a fast response!

I don't recognise 0x1e9412 as a valid signature.

er9x, ersky9x is for ARM processors.
If possible, could you look at the processor on replacement board and see what is written on it please.

Try flashing it as an ATMEGA128.

I believe, I may have brick the motherboard. Every time I attempt to flash it, I get and incomplete flash and a blank screen.

I wonder what version of Avrdude you are using? You should find a version of Avrdude in the eepe install directory. Please try changing the "AVRDUDE Location" to point to this one and try flashing again.

Hi felix44860,
This maybe what it should look like:

He is not using windows. Perhaps linux, so he will not have a "Program Files" directory, or even a "C" disk :)

As Mike said above, please point eepe to the avrdude installed in the eepe directory.

Also, try reading the chip, zip up the resulting .hex file and post it here for me to look at.

Try adding -B 50 to the Avrdude command (that's a CAPITAL B).
This will slow the programming clock down. You are sometimes getting the wrong signature.

You need to change the "Avrdude location" setting by clicking the "Browse" button next to it, and pointing it to where eepe is installed.. Not to that CrossPack directory ..
The Avrdude you have there IS NOT the one you want.

Forget the -B thing. If you don't change that setting, you will be stuck, because you're not using the correct avrdude version.. :(
