Looking good there JHSA. :)

Just a couple of questions.

(a) What scematic are you using, as I cannot find (with a quick look on this thread) the one that you are using.

(b) I take it that what you have marked up as an SMD shunt, is in reality a zero Ohm 1206 type resistor?

Post by jhsa »

No, where I marked shunt is just a solder bridge.. I'm using the schematic from HaGeHa plus the latest one from Mike with the serial connection.
Please let me test mine before you start. I found an error on my board before. Also I'm still not sure about the sd card connections yet.. Mike posted the pinout a few pages ago. It seems that there are 2 ground connections on the sd card adapter. and 1 on my board so I might have to connect both on the card. It was a bit of a PITA to solder the smd on the stripboard at first but then with a little practice I did it.. not so difficult anymore, just need some good tweezers to hold the component, flux and a magnifier ( not so young anymore ;) )
Also some cuts are to be done where the hole is and some other between holes. this can be a bit tricky.. It's taking me long to build it, but that's me :D
Hopefully it will work first time..

Looks certainly not bad!
Backlight o.k.
In corresponding to the switches but it's starting to whistle at.
As long as the message passes.
I use the 8-bit sound data.
The beeper I have not yet connected. I will do that immediately.
It must run with the old files? Or I'll have to install new?

The Beeper is working properly, but no volume adjustment possible.

Joao,
when the announcement begins, you will hear a tone of 3-4 kHz.
In the background, the text is totally distorted sound.
Text is too much to say, it crackles softly

For all files. In between there is absolute silence.

I think it's the Crystal!
It has, as seems only 2,000 Mhz
What looks like a 1 belongs probably to name characters.
I will measure.

Resistor side, NOT the via which goes directly to the trim switch, we need the resistor to prevent a short when the tri switch is pressed.
I haven't had time to wire my breadboard to those pins yet, I've got wires on the pins ready though.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to do some 'real' work this week, so I don't know how much time I'll have for testing.

Ok, when I try to flash the m328 with the HEX file with AVR Studio it gives the following error.

Getting isp parameter.. SD=0x03 .. OKThe specified file is not a valid Intel HEX file

it seems that the programmer is speaking with the m328 because it could read the signature, but it doesn't accept the hex file..
So, no sound tonight.. :(

Where did you get the hex file from? Which version of AVR Studio are you using?
A hex file produced for the Mega88 will not run on the '328 as the interrupt vectors are different sizes.

Ok. That .hex compiled for '328
I'll check it some hour later

UPDATE: Checked. I have option in project settings "MCU = atmega328p", thereafter my .hex compiled for '328.
You can recompile the project with source.
Later I'll add zipped .hex into repository.

João, I think this problem is not with .hex. Open it with notepad, first line is

Code: Select all

:100000000C9437000C9401040C9449000C944900A2
last lines is

Code: Select all

:081CC000E1F70895F894FFCF4D
:00000001FF
True?

Check the path to the .hex file. I think it is a problem with command, that is AVRStudio generate for programmer, and if it generate command with mistakes when you have too long path with many directories, then you can get this problem.
I havn't experiens for flashing with AVRStudio, I flashing with USBASP and eXtremeProgrammer

João:
Have you programmed the fuses at all? By default, the CLKDIV8 fuse is programmed, together with setting the clock to the internal 8MHz oscillator, resulting in a 1MHz clock. Your programming clock must be less than a quarter of this, so less than 250kHz.
Did I understand you have a STK500 you are using to program with?

yes, STK500. Didn't prog fuses. Don't know which ones. Managed to flash with eepe but 0 bytes were written. Opened file with notepad but it shows a big mess, nothing like an Hex file would look like. Still can't access the forum from my computer.

Sounds like you haven't downloaded the hex file correctly. If you go to the trunk on the project page, and right click on the file amod_last.hex to save it, you get a HTML page saved. Instead, click the file amod_last.hex to open this page, then on the right is a link to View raw file, right click this link and save to a file. This will give you the actual file.
