Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

in ersky9x you can choose the beeper also goes into the spker. can you do this in er9x?
I still have a stock board will need mod like this soon when the telemetry EZ comes out. keep up the good work. I will need it too.

No. Ersky9x beeps are driven by the DAC to the speaker, so it is common with the voice. The stock board still uses the beeper.

Just found this circuit on in the SOMO datasheet, might be of interest to some:
pops.png
Thomas9x has pointed out, via PM, I appear to be changing the data signal to the voice module on the wrong clock edge. This may be a cause of erratic performance, and also why perhaps the 'mini' version of the module doesn't work. I'm looking into changing the data on the other clock edge.

The circuit was posted some pages back in this thread, but probably needed to be re-posted to help with recent discussions.

Kilrah: The next er9x revision will have the data/clock to the sound module sorted. I can't remember what was different with your microsd sound module, but this change might make it work.

its been said that the circuit with muting transistors does not suppress the pops and clicks. it should help but the only problem on the "pop's" side, is a half the sound module output DAC being shut-down to 0 when the sound stops. so when it powers up, the capacitor charging does make a "pop". Mike, I'm sure you are familiar with this since the sky board had the same problem until 'someone' programmed the DAC to stay ad half supply after the sound stops. :)

Certainly for the original beeps, I left the DAC output to half level for this reason. If a voice file doesn't do the same, we might get a 'pop'.

the sound module used on the stock board always goes to 0 after the sound ends. therefor, my simple passive circuit cancels out any pop's when using an amp. I did my research and tests so it is there to be used. I'm sure I will. I don't like the internal amp of the module.

I have just my audio module with the MicroSD card installed in my second radio. The new version r-774 has, at the speed of the announcements, nothing changed!
While the announcement e.g. Is "8.0Volt" with the SD module to the end, says the microSD module just "point" (with identical cards).
The current announcement is now o.k.

Hi.
I just tested 774 and it works great with fas100 and also saves the custom telemetry screen. Thanks Mike!
I have an issue with the voices. It doesn't read the "decimal".
It says for example "sixteen" "eight" "volts" for 16.8V
Any change to the voice files i should check?

Hi Mike.. just tested r775. Changed the custom sw used for the loop to use the new AND sw.. It works very well. Delay is gone. Also, I saved a C.SW. Now I can find real use for this option. ;) :D will check where else I can save more C.switches with this new option.. it's great..
Thank you very much..

It has taken me months to get around to doing the voice modification. I decided to get hold of another transmitter to modify. Rather than risk messing things up with my working one.

It took me a while trudging through the many hundreds of posts to get some idea on how to program up the radio to use the audio files. Maybe it's time to add something to the first post to assist people with a link to the 'manual' and other information that would help someone starting out from scratch.

Great work there! :) What program did you use to produce the files, and what voice was used on them?

Another issue. The mah2 in not read. I get the no telemetry voice when I play my "variable" sequence of voltage and mah. Voltage is from A1 and amps on A2. If I set it up to read the volts and amps it does it fine. Mah2 does not...

Yeah, I will have to update the guide with the new custom switches (AND) option..
The program is textaloud and the voice is julie..
For freeware you might want to try iSpeech. just google it.. It's quite decent..

Crucial, I didn't forget your PM, just been cleaning and organising my workshop and also been working.. Just finished a fight with the vaccum cleaner that died on me.. I won, no hammer needed.. :D

Just tested this, I get the value but no units, which is what I would expect looking at the code. Need to check if we have a 'miliAmpHours' message defined, then I can put it in.

No problem. I did manage to find a copy of text aloud but I don't know if the version I found has the Julie voice. When I get more time to play with it I will have to see what it can do.

Your Julie voice is better than all the others I have heard on hte free ones like ispeech or att natural voices.

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

Cheers for the information. :)

Having had a few more minutes with the modified TX. I am now at the stage where the backlight operates as expected. and the voltages are fine.

At this point I have the original beeper working as expected. I have beeper/voice selected on the radio setup. The SD card is loaded with the sound files from here.. So far no joy on getting any audio output. :(

All of that leaves me thinking, where to now? .. The backlight works, but I don't see anything that could be called clock pulses on PB7. It does toggle with the backlight. What should we see on pin 14 & 15 on the 574? Both of them are high all the time. I do see packets of pulses on LCD D0,1,2 & D3. What should appear on the busy line (P06) from the sound module?

It would be great if there was a test/diagnostic routine that could be used to check things out. Okay.. So I like to dream. :D

Question - Does the SD card need any label?

Thanks Joao :) .. I will go through it all tomorrow. Hopefully it will work after I have done that. If not.. It will be back to checking out pulses and the like. All the wiring has been checked a number of times, along with the board connections and strips for stray bits of copper and the like.
