Check on the 9XR that the connections to the LCD are no damaged. Since the MegaSound board uses the LCD data signals, you may have some damage after you removed these. Ecah data line should have a 5K1 resistor to the processor pin and a 10K resistor to ground. Also check you don't have a small solder bridge left between the data signals.

Hy guys, hope you had a stressless Christmas ;)

My new Megasound 9X board (V3, with 10k from reset to Vcc) is very often not starting at all.
Backlight doesn't work, no sounds except beeper and no serial connection possible.
But every once in a while it's starting correctly.

First I thought of an issue with the SD-card, but these days I had the chance to check another
2 cards (2Gb and 8Gb) with either FAT16 and FAT32. No difference.

Also I had tested the reset connection as assumed by atmel (10kOhm to Vcc and 100nF to Ground).
No difference.

Very strange: If I short pad 8 or pad 5 (RXD) to ground for a moment when T9X is off, Megasound mostly will start.
When the board ist starting, everything works great.

Has anyone an idea?

I propose to program the Fuse were as follows:
eFuse: 05 (hex)
hFuse: D6 (hex)
lFuse: DF (hex)

You can improve the start-up!

Unfortunately changing lfuse to DFh didn't improve the situation.
But:
switching off brownout detection changed the behavior.
Megasound doesn't start when I first switch on the T9X.
But then switching off and on the t9x will bring megasound to life almost ev'ry try.
That's a behavior I can live with.

By the way: will there be more megasound boards available until spring?
Still need one more for my 2nd T9x :)

Happy new year

For some reason, you do not have the T9X starting delay (or low).
More waiting time should the card.

Ongoing in the manufacture the cards. Please wait.

Good evening all, I have added the sound module to mine. All works great most of the time. It seems that the first time turning on, the sound card fails to start. Have to turn off and back on again a time or two, then it is good. I'm looking at the 9XR and was wondering if it is as easy to mod as this Turnigy ER9X is.

My 9x basically always works fine, but sometimes if I use the simulator for a while and disconnect the trainer cable and turn ON the radio I get no sound or backlight, I must turn it OFF 2 or 3 times for a few seconds and back ON and it would work again. But normal operation I have no problems it works fine.

My problem was slightly different. Megasound started only every once in a while.

I have then deactivated the brownout detection of megasound (extFuse=FF) and now
megasound starts after a second power cycle.

I don't know the reason for that behaviour (seams like a timing issue) but I can live with it.

It's very strange that fails only after the tx is powered by the trainer plug.

I installed a socket like that in attached picture and a resistor in series (don't know the actual value) because
otherwise the signal is too loud.
Because this socket has switches, the speaker can be automatically switched off when earphone is plugged in.

This socket can be installed in every position where the housing is thin enough or as I did:
drilled a hole in an adequate place and glued it in.

I know there are similar sockets that are specially made for case mounting and not for mounting on PCBs,
but I didn't find those with switches.
