Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Hello All,

does anyone have the sound files for ArduCopter? APM2.5 Mode Select, etc.

I am happy to create them and share if they don't exist.. but just check to see if there is any reuse out there. ;-)

Hello Everyone.

The idea of the audio module is brilliant.
I made a 5V version of the module with SD card reader accessible from the outside through a hole in the bottom of the T9X.
SD reader have bidirectional buffer 5V to 3.3 V on the MOSFET and stabilizer 3.3 V.
The lines D0 .. D3 by 200ohm resistor connected directly to the ATmega128(T9X).
Backlight and volume OK but the problem is fully playing the message.
Sometimes play everything, sometimes just a piece at any time.
I have two Kingston SD card: 1GB SD-M01G and that does not play at all and 2GB SD-M02G.
There is a problem with reading SD, I think.
Does it matter reader wiring length?
Stabilizer and buffer are right on the reader.

Second case.
I downloaded the source files r100.
I set the clock to 12MHz.
After compiling got the hex file size of 61275 bytes.
The original file is 54705 bytes.
Why the difference and how to get the original size?
The make program info:
program: 21778 bytes (66.5% Full)
(. text +. date +. bootloader)
Date: 1495 bytes (73.0% Full)
(. data +. bss +. NOINIT)

Regards
Arek

I don’t have sound files for ArduCopter. Please share, I needed them some time ago but couldn’t find time till now. Also, the SMD board files are much appreciated. Thank you for sharing the information people, this thread is a gold mine.

what would you need for arducopter?

EDIT: Please look here at this sound pack. Look at files from 0071 to 0081. also the "Multirotor.zip"

I don't know which firmware you are using.. If you have er9x you can copy those files and renumber them to suit your needs.. ;)
will have to add them to er9x too. I didn't realize that i didn't :(

Joao. Great work again on the sound files. It seems that the openTx sound pack has all the files along with the er9x sound pack too. Problem I think with the greeting msg. To be sure what file number is it on the openTx?
I assume that the greeting is hard coded. My doesn't say hello anymore.
Kinda rude if you ask me. :-)

I don't mind soldering the mainboard. Don't think HobbyKing is that brave though... (They missed the opportunity to add a hacker port on this board. They did not even add the telemetry port...)

I wonder what they did...

Yes, they missed a lot on the 9XR, they didn't talk to anyone then.

If only the sticks would recenter electrically after you move them. Even with the pot body secured better it's a c**p shoot.
Being able to purchase replacement sticks and other parts is a plus. Adding telemetry and voice at a lower price would be good for those that are not up to $175-200 for a Taranis or can't solder well.
$100 would be a sweet spot if it was RTF.
HK said there would be upgraded versions yet to come. Hopefully that means better thought out as well.

Exciting times to buy new RC radios. Time to unload the "good old days" radios to make room for open source firmware and be free of hard coded switches and knobs.

And it's a great business model! Sell cr*ppy parts, then sell replacements, and sell even more replacements when the replacement is also defective ;)

I was being kind when I said it's a plus for all those that gave up on the 9XR site and are joining us here.
Since they made the choice to purchase a non transmitting tx case for $50 and have to spend another $50 to fly it, and by now have, they want to read positive posts. Since many couldn't wait 9 months for the rumored Taranis to be in stock, HK had a good window of opportunity to sell a $49 eye candy case. Too bad they didn't ask for help with its design like Frsky did.
If HK does it again at a lower price I'm sure we'll be attracting those new owners later this year.
If HK sells this new voice option as a DIY upgrade we'll be seeing a lot of them as current owners upgrade theirs. Lousy sticks included.
If one can solder or screw in a SP board, a tricked out 9x is was hard to beat for the money!
Those days may be numbered with the $200 bar being set for a RTF system that has it all and works!
I'm sure HK will adjust the price to be attractive to the first time buyer/flyer.
I hope to see my Taranis next week btw.

T9 will normally be shipping the first batch today, Microtechnics likely pretty soon after that :)

Those were of course all sold during preorders though.

Just an update, I removed all switches on the programmer (checkboxes) and just enabled telemetrez & voice... I get the welcome message now.
Just going to add features step by step to see where it fails.

Update coming.

Okay, after several hours of testing... This is the final config that is working... What is strange and I am not sure if this changed in OpenTX but the Model Number for audio starts at 260 and Companion X will only allow you to start at 260+ but not the 150 to 159 that is in the new file list... Am I missing something?

I also noticed that in Companion X GUID that there is only 0/1/2/3 Flight Modes not where there used to be 0/1/2/3/4 so that I was able to have my 5 modes for Quadcopter.

After putting a backup of a eeprom I notice that I have 5 flight modes but in companion x there are only 4. Strange.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong? Running 1.33 (Rev 2079) Jul 8 2013

model files starting at 260, only in er9x and not openTX.
I think I know what's happening.. You have companion set to er9x and not openTX.. Please go to File>preferences and change the firmware field to opentx ;)

Hey Joao, its funny, I have been programming it on my MAC and have been programming OpenTX all this time. But for some reason, when I open the EEPROM Configurator it has the ER9X UI. There is not setting for FILE>PREFERENCES in MAC GUI but what I did is opened my EEPROM.BIN and then opened the Configurator and I got the right UI. NO model numbers now for Sound, etc and the right amount of FP's.

Coolbeans, Thanks!

Hi, guys! I have a voice (emartee module) and the Frsky telemetry modification of the Turnigi radio. I want to set my transmitter to voice warnings. For example warning of low voltage A2. How to do it with a custom switch? If it's been discussed before, please provide a link. Perhaps there eepe file with these settings?

How do I set a voice alarm for A1 voltage below a certain level?

In Custom Switches:

SW1 V<ofs A1 x.xxV (x is the voltage you want to set)

Then In Safety switches:

V SW1 xx (xx is The number of the voice file for the battery alarm)

In all my models I always do the same for RSSI
C.Switch:
Sw2 V<ofs Rx 45

Saf. Sw.
V Sw2 xx (number of voice file for low RSSI)

I hope it helps

Hope this helps :D

Hello all,
I have made Olivers version PCB and I have it completely soldered now... but I am having issues with flashing the MCU in Arduino way.. not responding... I am able to flash the bootloader via AVR USB... now my question is, is it possible to flash main code via AVR USB?

Thank you

Have you set the fuses to let the bootloader run?

Yes, you can flash the main program in the same way, I think I posted a 'combined' hex file to allow flashing both the main program and bootloader together.

Yes 12MHz. At the 3.3V supply it isn't guaranteed to work above about 13 MHz.
