Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Where do I find the latest audio files. I've been using "heather" files that were posted some time ago for the sky board. I want to update my mega board sd voice files before I close up the case.
Thanks

sorry guys, still didn't have time to do it. Will try a little later. Mike, you just allocated a file for "watts". Shall I do 060 for "watt"? Or not necessary? Guys now is a good time to Pm me with suggestions, but please only useful stuff that everybody can use. No model names for example. Thanks. Ahh, and I can't promise that I include all the requests..

No need to do 0060 as "watt".

Jsha,
Have you posted or can you again, the current program for windows and the parameters used to generate the latest sound pack audio files.
I want to add "Fun Cub", "Sky Surfer", Sportster, and "Sky Hunter" to my model directory.
Of course I can ask you to do it but it's a lot of extra work if we all ask you.
If I use the same program and voice settings I can post them for others to use in my logic here.

Yes ShowMaster,

I was thinking the same. I work a rotating shift and when I work nights there is nothing to do!
If I had the Textaloud program and the voices that Jsha used, I would not mind helping out
by making audio files! I have used the free AT&T Natural voices but they are not the same voices.
This file is AT&T US english Crystal. Not shure if I should even use AT&T.
Still can't figure out why my files show up like a video?

I've been working on the remote SD card update for the Megasound board. Unfortunately the ymodem protocol in hyperterminal uses 1K data blocks. we can't handle these, we only have 2K RAM on the mega328.
I'm going to have to write something for the PC to send the data in manageable sized blocks. This will take a bit longer to sort out. Xmodem doesn't send the filename, so isn't suitable either.

Shame on the Hyperterminal. Mike, if you will have to write some kind of program to handle the file transfer, you could integrate it in eepe, right?

Thanks..

Looking at that! It looks like I need and addon or a licensed library to add serial drivers in QtCreator, It's not there by default. I'm checking the options available.

No need to, the mechanism is to use a serial connection direct from the PC to the Megasound card. The flavour of custom firmware doesn't matter, it is not invloved in the update.

I've got some QT compatible serial code, apparently will work on Win, Linux and MacOS, so if I can build a version of eepe for linux as well as win we should be OK. I've got VirtualBox running a copy of Linux so I might manage it in due course.

Trying to pull it all together.

Ahh right.. I take it you are talking about connections marked TXD (5) and RXD (6) on the Megasound card.. RS232 I take it? If so I would think that a few people would be using USB -> RS232 units.. Bit like the USBASP's. There is a lot of rubbish out there.

I take it that you mean either the Frsky FUC-1 or FUC-3. Both of them seem to be able to do the job. I have an old Frsky RS232 upgrade cable, as my machine has a number of RS232 ports for kit that demands it. So no problem here. :)

I have the old USB one.. Funny that I could never make it work as the drivers supplied with it didn't work.. when I built my first sound module, found some drivers in the hobbyking website and decided to give them a go.. it worked.. wonderfull.

Well, I now have a dialog on eepe that picks up a serial port, sends data to it, waits a second, then displays any data received. I looped the serial port back on itself, and I'm getting back that which I sent out. Now to see about ymodeming (is that a word?) a file.
ABBC3_OFFTOPIC
I wonder if there is any use for a FrSky telemetry monitor screen in eepe. Maybe a FrSky Tx module configure option as well. Plug into the back of the DJT and display received telemetry values.
Mike.

Edit: 20th May. I've got data flowing between eepe and the Megasound board, getting closer!

Getting very close. just sent some data, and got it the first 128 bytes written to the SD card. Put the SD card into my PC and found the file with the data. Hopefully now just some tidying up and writing all the file data.

That's great Mike. thank you so much..
Will we be able to create/sent folders to the sd card or just write to the root directory? This just came to my mind, as maybe later we could also send models in case the sound module ever talks with the 9x.. Heck, maybe it would even be possible for eepe to configure the radio in real time. Now I'm just dreaming. Wake up João

Initially, just the root directory. Once the file transfer and writing is working reliably (I still need to add some checking and retries if necessary) we can look into other possibilities.

This is looking good enough for me to give up (for now at least) the idea of cutting a slot in the TX case to mount an SD card holder. Just need to find space in the battery compartment for a servo connector, to carry the RS232 signals to and from the Megasound9x :)

I think it is all working, just need to remove some debug code. I'll make the eepe display look better later.
I've even forced some artificial errors which the code handled OK.

Late here now, might be able to finish it tomorrow.
