er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Thanks for that info.
If the capacitive load from the trim switches is that problem, couldn't we modify these resistors/capacitors ?

Gentlemen, thanks for the help and methods of testing...
Oliver, just followed your last post... here are the findings...
testing.jpg
with no writing on picture
with no writing on picture
I tested all Blue Dots to the Green ones...
and then I took the Ohms Reading from all Resistors... from Top to Bottom of Resistor.

I had the setting at 200k for all but 2 at 20M on the Ohms Meter

Updated repository:
Added #define for CPU freq
Change uart&timer initialization calculated from F_CPU
Removed some old commented code
Added DEBUG mode

I DIDN'T REBUILD .HEX!
Mike, please, check my changes before, to be sure it is without mistakes.

Bootloader code, as I understood, don't need any changes for 16MHz rebuilding.

hey guys. I have a question for you. (i read part of this thread but not the entire 99 pages)

I am setting up a 4 wheel steer car, and using the 9XR (i had asked for a 9x but he ordered a 9xr, but thats ok) . the thread for that is here ... viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2567

what i would like to do, is use the voice module, but i need it to say different things. for example, my !thr/thr switch is a limit switch for max throttle so when in the !thr setting id like for it to say "throttle limits active" and when in THR say "throttle limit overide"

I also have a 2 other built in functions called ATR and Steering bias that i would like to use...

would it be possible to get these custom done and added in? youll have to forgive my lack on knowledge. there is still alot of stuff i dont understand about er9x and this controller and its mods. thanks!!

Gentlemen, its been a while and I know everyone is missing my issues, so I thought I would add another post
I was working with Joao and he felt it would be good to add an Audio file to the post depicting what sounds to be a problem with the Atmega and or the Crystal.

The following Audio files were recorded from my new H-Board Version #2. All parts are the same as the First Iteration, both boards are doing the exact same thing so its clear that the problem is repeatable.

I have added my Parts Lists as to maybe something is wrong component wise but the Test Program works perfectly and the Main Program works as well.
The only problem is that the Audio is very faint and this new issue that Joao has identified which is some unique noise that is created when the audio is spoken.
This anomoly is not the Hum from the Module but another noise.

Please listen....

The first file is the Normal Amod_Last.Hex running in the Tx. ( I was flipping the Flap Switch ON and OFF )
TestAudio_Normal.mp3
(100 KiB) Downloaded 454 times
The second file is the Test Program Amod_Last_Test.Hex outside the Radio running off of the Battery and the LED connected Blinking.
TestAudio_Testing.mp3
(25.82 KiB) Downloaded 642 times
Please feel free to comment if you should believe that there might be a bigger problem at play here.

-Hans, I didn't try the Resistor removal yet, I will do so if this sound that is generated is not a problem.

Please note that the sound was amplified a bit so that you can hear it better.

Mike, what do you think could do this problem? the noise before the voice starts and also the noise during the file being played.. please note that on the second sound file Pino posted above, the one from the test .HEX file, the noise that can be heard during playback is not the same noise we get from the amp for being close to the RF module.. it is related to the PWM I suppose..

Could a bad/wrong XTAL do this? I guess some crystals have internal capacitors and some don't??

Thanks,

João

P.S. - Could all this also explain why he has such a low volume? we spent a few hours on the phone the other day doing some measurements and couldn't find any problem with his board. Also he built another board and has exactly the same problem?

Hi Pino,
Please check C18!
In your bill is 4μ7 - It must be 4n7!
C 18 goes from pin3 /LM386 to GND!
This explains also the rattle!

Also, can you try another SD Card? did you mention before you're using a partitioned one?
Good catch on the capacitor Hans.. he could have a wrong one there then..

This is interesting, so 4.7 or 4n7 is in nF and in uF or MicroFarad it would be 0.0047uF

Then this is correct, I would have the wrong Capacitor... I believe mine is 4.7uF (just confirmed, it is.)

The good news, is that i have 4.7nF 472(4700) Capacitors.

I will install them now.

Thanks for the catch...

Well, Thanks to you gentlemen!
The MegaSound9x is fully functioning...
Sound is perfect and clear.
Just one Cap made the difference, and all because I didn't convert or got confused on the conversion from 4n7(nF) to uF

Thanks Hans for catching that and to Joao for working with me tirelessly on debugging.

I will fully document a parts list with Digi-Key Order so that it is easy for the next person to order the right parts.

To be honest, I think there is something there that is very faint only on start of the speaking. But the sound is great. Very clear.

it's very easy to solder a wrong capacitor, as there are no markings.. I normally check all my caps with the multimeter before I solder them.. If the parts list would not have been posted, we would probably never find the problem..
We will have to keep this in mind in the future when helping someone else troubleshooting his board. ;)
