You have the bootloader fuse ON. As you have programmed the '328 without using the bootloader, it is likely the bootloader has now been erased. You need the HIGH byte of the fuses set to 0xDF so the loaded program starts, and to 0xD7 to prevent erasing the EEPROM when programming.

LOW=0xFF means 8MHz internal oscillator, isn't it? http://www.engbedded.com/fusecalc

LOW 0xFF, HIGH 0xD7, EXTENDED 0xFD, I was just trying to indicate what the changes do.

Guys,

I did the voice mod on my TX and it work pretty well. Backlight, welcoming message, inactivity alarm, timer count down, throttle enabled/disabled all work. Thank you for all the efforts from your part.

I am using version er 9x-776 and I want to set it up where the altitude is announced every 15sec or so when activating the gear switch.
Here are my settings:

on custom switches
SW 1 time off 10 on 5 ---

on safety switches
VS4 SW1 Variabl Alt

Here is my issue:

The numbers aren't announced it tells only "meters......meters........meters"
If I set it to A2 on the safety switches setting than it will say "volts......volts......volts" Once again, the numbers are not announced.

I checked the voice files on the SIM card. It has the numbers. Maybe the files are corrupt? Where to download the latest voice files?
Could someone post a template where this feature is set?
Could you help me please with this issue?

Thanks

Oliver,
I think there is a little problem, the connector - Card / ICSP -
I could provide the board with a 1/10 inch connector, or as already mentioned, make a slightly larger "1206" version.
(already prepared)

This 0805 version is a bit difficult to solder by hand.

What do you think?

Where I'm at it, so thanks to all who contributed to this work!

found the problem. Old age. My eyes are connected to my brain, that's the prob. The jumper that connects to pin 4 was not soldered. But it still didn't welcome me. It said the model name not the welcome message. Also, it is not as loud as the other module. Will post pics as soon as I can access the forum from my computer. That still doesn't work..

ok, changed model and now plays the welcome message every time. I gotta say. This thing is really fast. One thing i've noticed is that it seems there is still a bit of the digital noise. It might be a bit annoying with earphone. Maybe it was there with the other module too and i never heard it.

Hans, don't worry about current version. We can put it into repository and everyone can choose later, which version like.
For example, I prefer 0805 version, due to it's dimensions, and I'm ready to begin to solder it as faster as it possible, anybody else could prefer 1206, maybe later you make revision of 0805 with 1/10in pins connectors - all of this we can put into repository.

Ok, here are some pictures of my board.. I used a BS170 FET transistor instead of the original 2N7000 used by Mike.. PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY HAVE DIFFERENT PINOUT.
I?ve only tested the voice for now... Must wait till Mike has time to code the other features such as storing models on the SD Card and connect the mega328 to the computer.. ;)

Ok, I'm powering the LM386 from batt voltage.. around 9.6V. Not much of a difference to 6V
Is it possible to make it a bit louder? The emartee module has a bit more kick :)

Ah, the beeper is really quiet.. hardly can hear it..

The LM386 supply voltage won't change the output volume unless the signal is larger.
You have a 4K7 to ground from pin 3 (voice), and a 1K to ground from pin 2 (beeper). To increase the volume, make these larger values.
Check you have the volume set to 7 as well!
Mine is quite loud, maybe try a different speaker?

Oliver,
here, the most recent of my module.
I changed the gain with 10uF / 1k2 to 50. Pin 1 to pin 8
Pin 2 LM386 is now above 330 ohms to GND
Beep quieter, louder audio.

My volume is set to 7 and I don't have another speaker that fit there.. this one has a very good quality and is 0.5W and only 25mm diameter.. with the emartee module is really loud.. will experiment with the resistors. My initial idea was to have 2 trimmers on the board, but it would make it bigger..
Mike, where do you take the beeper's signal from? form the transistor output (beeper's pin), or from the atmega pin??

Thanks,

João

Mike,

Thank you for your help. I downloaded the voice files and also updated to the latest firmware er9x-777. But I still have the same issue. The only time my TX tells the numbers when is set to TSSI or RSSI. If I set it to any other telemetry data the numbers will be no longer announced it'll tell only "volts....volts...meters... meters..." the same thing will happen if I put the TX battery to be monitored it wont tell the numbers.

What could I do wrong?

which flies do you have.. It seems that you might have an old voice pack.. the numbers from zero to 99 are file numbers 0400 to 0499.. Can you please check that that's what you have?

so, Hans, you just changed the gain of the amp? 10uF on pin 1 in series with the resistor and the other side of the resistor to pin 8, right?
