Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Mike, another bug..
went flying and and all was ok.. battery full, reporting the right voltages..
but as soon as the voltage drops to about 11.8V down to 11.6V the readings are not correct and it says POINT two times..
so at 11.8 it says ELEVEN POINT POINT TWO VOLTS
At 11.7 it says ELEVEN POINT POINT ONE VOLTS
At 11.6 it says ELEVEN POINT POINT ZERO VOLTS

Below 11.6v the audio is correct and no double point..
Above 11.8 or 11.9v (not sure) the audio readings are also correct and no double point.. made a little video..

Not a bug really, its called 'in development'. The decimals voice is still using 0000 to 0009 I realise. So if you have changed 0006 up to have the new 'POINT ZERO' it will have the effect you describe. It should sort out as soon as I can get a new revision out. I've been incorporating some changes for the NMEA version, need to check these don't upset anything else.

Obviously it is possible, I'm not sure at present what to do about the pot (which one?) operating as pot scroll at the same time, and if you have it assigned to a mixer as well, what happens?
Will need a bit of thought.

Hi again, I just got my new M64 and new cristals, installed them, checked every little thing and tried to program my 9x.

I get this warning: avrdude.exe: warning: cannot set sck period. please check for USBASP firmware update

my old 9x programs, reads/writes no prob at all. this new one does not boot.
I got a perfect 16Mhz sine ware on the crystal output, I've got all voltages correct. I've removed the reset line capacitor (for testing at least) I've been wondering around the board and could not get to a solution. any thoughts? I've tried to reduce the programmer speed, no luck either

how about make it programmable with a switch, using ID or THR stick for exaqmple, at IDx or certain THR position any pot can be programed becomes volume adjustment, otherwise as usual. I don't think one would want to scroll through menu while flying. or may be there are people do. ;)

For my second radio voice mod, I have found a 4ohm speaker from a small mp3 amplifier. I connected it and works ok. Will I fry anything if I keep using this instead the recommended 8ohm speaker?

Don't know if it is possible but when we are inside menus, then the pot scroll would take over. when we are outside the menus with some main screen, then the volume control would take over.. we don't need volume control when programming nor pot scroll when flying ;)

And we have to make sure we don't have the pot assigned to any mixer..
Which pot? any of the three, switches (full, mute) C.Switches, etc

Obviously, my logic doesn't work the same way as a developer's logic.. and I probably drink a bit more beer too

@Tigar

If the specs from the module are 8 ohm, I wouldn't connect a 4 ohm speaker.. it will be overloading the module's amplifier and it could damage it.. the other way round wouldn't be a problem to the amp but the volume would be lower..

Just flashed version 773 on my tx..
Welcome message is playing all the time. With some older versions sometimes it would play for a while and then stop playing.. let's see if it is completely fixed..
Volume on startup seems to be working well, thanks Mike..
"No Telemetry" plays when we try to play telemetry data with no telemetry being received.. That is working as well, as far as I can tell.. Need to test with a model also..
This thing is really getting very close to perfection..

If you make your own files, and making the new decimal files 0006 to 0015, try to match the normal delay from the 9x..
I mean, you must leave a little bit of silence between POINT and the NUMBER to match the normal delay from the 9x between the units and the next file, otherwise it might not sound right..
I used the last version I had to match this delay by listening and adjusting the speed of the new file accordingly..
er9ky users might have to match their radio's delay as the board is faster.
A bit difficult to explain, I hope you understand what I mean..

João

P.S. Oh and the inactivity alarm also works.. Just made me jump while I was writting..

I was thinking one of the main reasons for combining two words in one file was to remove the delay between them so the whole message takes less time to say.

There's always a delay between the first number and POINT..
If we take the delay away between the POINT and the decimal will sound a bit odd, don't you think?
And if you add then the second decimal you get a delay again.. something like

THREE................POINT..FOUR.....................FIVE ;) :D

I thought the main reason you wanted it this way was because it would be easier to code and to allow 2 decimal numbers.. :D :D

No, I was thinking of saving the gap time mainly! We don't need to decimals very much.

   sorry Mike.. I didn't understand that then..
But is there any way of reducing the normal delay between 2 files? I mean sending the info to the module? That's where all the delay is AFAIK.
Anyway, I had to match the other delay, or it wouldn't siound good..
But of course other people can reduce it on their files (Or on mine).. On mine I prefer everything "square" :D

Bill: I'm hopeful that these major changes to the voice files are now done. We may need a few additions in future.

João: The delay is in the module, it takes that time to find the file on the SD card, we just can't do anything about it other than design our own voice module. I don't have time to do that.

No one expects you to do that.. :) The module is good as it is.. the time gain is minimal and we obviously can't do nothing about it.. And really is not that bad.. This mod came out much better than I thought in the beginning.. we can already do nearly everything we asked for..
Oh, just remembered a few things more if possible..
Is it possible to set priorities? I explain.. There are 3 or so alarms there are really really important.. flight batt, tx batt and I think the most important of all, RSSI.
Is it possible for these 3 alarms to override any other voice being played or waiting in the cue to be played?
RSSI needs immediate action and can't wait.. Maybe something like a reset would leave the module free to play the alarm immediately and just forget everything else

The other I already asked before and I remember now you said it won't be possible..
It was to speak the switch and thr stick warnings at the beginning.. :( :(

So forget what I wrote :D

Even though I will be happy with this solution, if I were able to program it, I had tried to get it in this way:
THREE................POINT.................FOURTYFIVE

using also three files as befor, but having the two decimal digits as one file.

Add 9 files for 01-09. The rest can use the existing 10-99.

ok, good solution.. but don't know if I prefer (because I have it in English) Four point fortyfive, or Four point four five
anyway on 01 to 09, it will have to say, point zero one...., point zero nine.
four point twelve also doesn't sound to good to me.. But hey, it's just my personal taste.. saying the numbers separately might sound a bit more professional.. At the end of the day Mike has the last word..

The "RSSI" alarm is one of the last "beeps" that are left after the Audio(voice) mod. As the sound comes directly from the FrSky module, this alarm is so clear, the voice output is not really necessary.
The value of this signal is, in my opinion, not important.
Sounds the alarm, there is only one "fly back" (if possible)
We need to listen to what we observe in the model can not be read.

Well, I think RSSI is probably the most important alarm on the radio.. as we are having, or trying to have all the alarms with voice, why leave this one behind? If I wanted to hear beeps I wouldn't have done the audio mod.. There's only one thing that might have to use beeps.. the vario
