Switch problems after TelemetrEZ mod

Post by stofferl »

I can´t get rid of my Ail and Thr Cut switch disfunction after performing the telemetrEZ modification to my 9X. I also have the latest 2.4 smartieparts programmer board installed. I programmed the telemetrEZ board with different FW versions up to r90 and did the Frsky Mod FW upgrade but the two switch errors always appear when switching the TX on and they don´t go away on their own when not pressing any key. On the Diag page 4 these two switches always say "1" and stay there. Did anybody else have such persistent problems with the switches? It seems most of the users somehow found a solution for their problems, but all of them didn´t work for me.

Thanks in advance

Christoph

Take a couple of pictures of the inside of your Tx. There might be a problem that we can see.

Also what revision of firmware?
What processor do you have M64 (standard) or M128?

I don't have a SP-board but I remember that you DON'T have to use FrSky-Option with it.

It actually depends on the firmware and version, hence the question.

I´m using the ER9X-Frsky FW from http://code.google.com/p/er9x/ and tried r86 and r90 FW for the telemetrEZ. Initially I undeliberately used the standard ER9X FW which made no difference to the switch problems. Today I even put a few drops of contact cleaner to all the cables and pins to rule out bad connections.
I don´t have other mods done to the 9X so I suppose I have the standard M64 processor and have this option selected on the eepe SW also. I tried selecting and deselecting FrSky mod done although it says M128 only and TelemetrEz rev. 90+ on the eepe SW but it didn´t make a difference.
What seems suspicious to me is my radio setup display 1/6 does not mention Frsky mod done as in the pic in this post:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5242
Also I don´t see the TelemetrEz rev. 90+ option selectable on the TX radio setup display.

Try the version of er9x here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4598#p64969.

I need to catch up and get this formally released.

Thanks Mike! With FW r813 my switches are working again. Is it save to use this FW already? I now have to find out how to get the telemetry data on to the display screen. Is there a post where this setup is explained in detail here besides the main thread (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=994)? Haven´t had the time to read through it completely.

Yes I believe it is safe to use.
What module are you using (DJT/XJT)?
Also, what receiver and sensors?

Have you installed eepe on you computer? If so, you should have a copy of the manual (.pdf) in the eepe install directory. This may help.

I have the DJT module and a D8R-XP receiver but currently no sensors yet. Main reason for buying the Frsky system was using it for a FPV plane because of the two diversity antennas and to have RSSI value displayed which basically would mean no real need for the TelemetrEZ. But because I already had the SP boards in both of my 9X´s I wanted the next step also, at least in one radio. For my other non FPV planes at least a voltage sensor will be on my list next. Nevertheless I still would like to use my old Flysky and probably the Orange module I also have alternately, which seem to work despite the Frsky mod/FW, right?
I noticed r813 has a different look regarding the radio setup display...will this change until official release or stay this way? I have eepe installed and will take a look for the pdf, but discovered via Youtube I can get to the telemetry display by clicking the UP button a few times.

The new RADIO SETUP display will stay. So far everybody seems to like it and find it easier to find settings.
The telemetry display follows after the 4 main screens. A quick way to get to it, is LONG DOWN (press and hold the DOWN button).
There are several telemetry screens, when you get to it LEFT/RIGHT step through them. One of them is a custom screen, you choose what you want displayed on the TELEMETRY2 menu.

If you want to use the A1 and A2 inputs of the D8R-XP, these are set up on the TELEMETRY menu.

Could it be that CH1 is a bit offset though trim is at 0 on r813? I noticed my ailerons weren´t straight last time and when looking at the display I also saw this offset on CH1.

I don't think so.
Try creating a new model and seeing if CH1 has an offset there.

I had to perform a new TX calibration after the R813 update obviously. Now it shows no more offset.
