something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
had a proper working r803 frysky
on my EUGLE9X with FrSky Telemetry
when updating EEPE, also
r804
"er9x-frsky.hex" can be installed
doing this, it wrecked the upped original 9X mixes,
visible symptom:
- in EXPO/DR THR & ELE are switched, with ELE having the THR curve and v.v.
keeps warning: check sources
crazy behavior and THR CH not working & whatever
?
reverted back to v803, all is well
double checked with the RAW files downloaded from
http://er9x.googlecode.com/svn-history/ ... -frsky.hex
does the same thing
and is the same file EEPE downloaded
??
great software BTW

I'm working on it! I think I have these problems fixed, just testing it all out.

Re: something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
I'm using a 9X with er9x (r780).
I'm currently preparing another 9X, this time for onboard telemetry.
So I just soldered the 6 wires for flash and reroute pins 41-42. And I flashed er9x-FRSKY (r805).
All inputs seem to react as expected (switches and pots), so that first hw job seems OK.
But, the new r805 seems quite a lot different from r780, with plenty new screens, and some lost (templates ?).
To start, I'd like to set the default ch order as TAER, I can't find where to set this. Default seems RETA, even though I've set TAER on eepe (I wonder why if it doesn't adjust the firmware at flash time).
Thanks for all those continuous efforts to give us the best of our 9X'es

Re: something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
The templates menu uses a lot of flash memory, it was removed from the FrSky version to make sure the program still fits in a MEGA64.
If you read the EEPROM using eepe, change the default channel order, then write EEPROM back, this should work. The default channel order should be used when you create a new model.
It is possible that this is one more item not quite right as a result of the stick mode changes, I'll check it.

Re: something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
@Camboui & FYI
like Mike says, at the risk of being redundant,
but just today I was desperately trying to set TAER
(where? where?)
for a new setup,
you can set RETA to preferred (JR CPPM) TAER
from a blank new eepe 'document',
entering 'General Settings' above the channel mixes
if you have precious mixes in the present Transmitter,
and flash a new firmware,
your transmitter Mixes & General will be overwritten, oops
this also looses for instance the 'contrast' setting of your screen etc.
and anything 'General'
so,
the procedure would be,
when upgrading Firmware with precious mixes in an existing Transmitter,
download EPROM first, with 'Read Memory from TX',
that saves your 'General' & Mixes,
then, 'Flash Firmware to TX', your update / upgrade FW,
then, 'Write Memory to TX' back up,
so you're not looking at faded screen,
you're stick calibrations are back to OK, etc
the RETA default for Models, like Mike says,
this doesn't matter on the Transmitter
for, in Er9X FrSky,
these Models aren't there,
and you're supposed to use the templates in EEPE
(again, by first setting 'General')

Re: something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
oh, (Mike)
and just found something other 'weird'
concerning the 'Templates' in, latest today, EEPE r386
both T-cut and Sticky T-cut templates
are implemented on ELE channel
independent of RATE TARE RATE etc., checked,
so, this (very wise) THR cut,
seems hard connected to ELE (not even CH #)
how about that
3 cts

Re: something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
I'll check out the templates in eepe (also in er9x itself).
BTW, if you are losing your EEPROM when you flash a new version of er9x, check out the option to set the EEPROM protect fuse. This prevents the EEPROM from being erased when you flash the firmware.

I seem to have a fix for the templates problem. Will be fixed in the next revision.

Re: something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
Thanks to both.
There was one model pre-set, a basic plane in RETA. There are other screens with RETA stuff (fmode... ?).
I just would have TAER instead everywhere.
I understand that programming models on the PC is very convenient, but it shouldn't be the prefered method IMHO.
Now I have two 9X's, one with er9x-r780 and another with er9x-frsky-r805, and the "latest" version of eepe on the PC (sunday 13/10/2013).
Is eepe compatible with any version of er9x ?
May I read EEPROM from one 9X and write it to the other 9x ? (I guess I need to recalibrate analog inputs... just that right ?)
I flashed for the first time a new 9X. So no EEPROM to read.MikeB wrote:If you read the EEPROM using eepe, change the default channel order, then write EEPROM back, this should work. The default channel order should be used when you create a new model.

You might change your mind on this one soonCamboui wrote:

if you write the complete eeprom from one radio to the other, yes you will have to calibrate.Camboui wrote:

If you just want to copy models, backup both eeproms, open both in eepe and just drag models from one to the other to copy them..
Then just make sure you flash the right eeprom to the right radio..
I hope it helps

Re: something weird happening flashing r804 Frysky
It actually makes sense for the default channel order to be under the general settings rather than the templates menu. I may move it there.

not after a while, when you get to know the interfaceCamboui wrote: Well, I'm not a flash freak.

you setup a 'template', you tinker, you simulate,
then upload to TX, test RC on your workbench, check servo direction & all behaviors,
change, backup to EEPE, test flight, tinker, done, backup to EEPE (etc.)
when something in the setup changes, you start with the backup in EEPE, etc
since 'general' is somewhat TX dependant (contrast, calibrate, mode, bleeps),Now I have two 9X's, one with er9x-r780 and another with er9x-frsky-r805, and the "latest" version of eepe on the PC (sunday 13/10/2013).

in EEPE you can have 2 'documents', 2 MIX setups loaded side by side
also, in my case, I have 1TX with FrSky mods, and my other one not yet done,
so, I think it's sensible, makes sense,
to keep these 2 TX's 'general' in their separate 'documents',
and never the twain shall meet, and neither shall accidental errors,
you can copy paste your favorite mixes/models,
from the one's TX 'document' to the other,
so calibration etc. will be kept with the correct TX
how wonderful is that

As said, not flash freak.
I have simple needs, fly simple planes, you see
But I'm proud to play with the most advanced transmitter software ever made

I was answering to the post above, more exactly to this phrase:

Because I'm also proud to play with this software and the phrase was very well said.
So I was aggreeing in a nice funny way (or so I Thought)
Obviously someone thinks that it was a stupid answer
I think I can live with that as it doesn't make my day better or worser
