er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Sound Driver Updates

Post by Rob Thomson »

Hi All,

Thanks to some rather fancy coding by Bertrand35 we have a fundamental update to the audio sound system. Bit like the same car.. with a more efficient engine!

i have been working with Bertrand for the past few days generally testing/bug fixing and believe all is now stable and working ok.

The attached files contain a pre release of the firmware for anyone who fancies testing before Eraz gets the master compile done!

Any feedback appreciated!

er9x version..

Bl is on until splash is gone, then the light goes off. (light off 'after x has no effect'.)
no matter what you set the bl off timer to too.

This also happens when changing model. light on, change model, boom light off... no matter what setting bl off is set to. (if you go back to the model setup - right press, the backlight will stay on, it's only when switching models)
Model change warning is inconsistent. Used to be two beeps, rapid. Now it's two quick chirps sometimes quick, mostly a sec or so apart, not consistent.

It's the first thing I noticed.. was annoying having the backlight just suddenly go off... when you're used to seeing it stay on until the bl timer turns it off. :(

So... how is the sound suppose to sound? :D

So I reflashed and made more models, and switched models. it was an eprom issue... weird.
I have my snd setting for pzo xshort and 1 for the tone, so it's Fast and high pitched, I set it to stock, and yes, the start up sound is different.. so it seems to work, just issues with the eprom in one of my radios. the other radio is okay too. (but has the faster snd setup too)

I dropped the ability to "unprotect" fuses since I wanted to keep it simple. It seems to me that there is no good reason why you would need to have the fuses erased on every flash. I also wanted to make it simpler for the new users to set the fuses properly.

I see you uploaded the code to the trunk. Is is safe to compile or do you want to wait more for feedback?

I had to erase the eprom for that update to work though. :)
not on every flash... just occasionally. 8-)
I reloaded the eprom, and it didn't work again. Just sayin... is there a different way to do that? just write a blank eprom file? I will have to try that... ;)

Seems ok to me at present!

Mike spotted one potential bug... will check it out in an hour or so then let you know!

Ah,

I think the best way to erase the EEPROM is to create a new file in eePe and just upload that. That will "format" your memory. I don't think that messing with the fuses in order to erase your EEPROM is a good idea.

The audio class defined in audio.h includes a variable:
toneCounter
This variable does not appear to be used, a static version of it is used in driver().

Did this get rolled into the codebase or is it still a one off hex file? I've been using the one you uploaded for about a week and it seems to be running ok for me so far.
