er9x development

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

I tested firmware "Latest Binaries ER9x-NOHT" Vers V1.5711-Mike:

When I have setting:
Throttle reverse ON
Throttle Warning ON
then there is a problem. Switch TX ON and firmware reports ALERT -

Throttle not idle ..., but the throttle is -100%.

Missed that post somehow, put it on my todo list to investigate.

Anyway revision 769 is now released.
Main changes
TelemetrEZ serial input processing - 1B type data is processed
FAS100 current scaling
FAS100 voltage scaling
No voice units for A1/A2 if raw
Inactivity alarm detection improved
C9x patches added in
Over 500 bytes flash saved - all sorts of changes for this, including merging PPM16/PPMSIM and PPM pulse calculations into a single routine.

I've given these changes a reasonable amount of testing, including 'scoping all the PPM outputs.

Re: Throttle warning with Throttle reverse active.
Can anyone running Open9x check this as well, I think it is wrong there as well.

Hi Mike,
I fixed it yesterday and tested on ersky9x board. Here is the code change:
http://code.google.com/p/open9x/source/detail?r=1201
The issue was reported here:

I actually discovered and reported the open9x issue after seeing this post - I didn't post here as the issue was different (he had a warning he shouldn't have, and on open9x we didn't have the warning we should have) :D

Bertrand: I've done the change very similar to yours, but then I slimmed the code down so it obnly cost 12 bytes of flash. I'll try to commit my changes tomorrow, then you will see my flash saving. (First thing is the declare thrchn as a uint8_t, not an int.

Hello,

I've open an issue on the google code site, with a beautiful video :

Does anybody else experience this ?

That's very odd, not been reported by anyone before.
If you edit the mixes, and put them back to how you want them, do they move again?
Please post your EEPROM, as dumped from eepe, to help look into this problem.

This mix just do not wanted to be kept, every time I siwtch OFF the radio or I just change the model, my mixe "move"... but since I was trying to export my EEPE file to upload it on the forum... I try something :

- Download the model with the "moved" mixe
- Modify it, with EEPE, to make it as I want.
- Upload it in the radio again

And now this mix is "fixed"

Since this is working for me and I'm the only one experiencing this, maybe we can drop it out.

Thanks you

Hi!

I've a trouble with FW 771 FrSky.
If I modify the settings at 'Telemetry2' screen, they will only be stored temporarily.
On "reboot" (power off and on again) the transmitter, the modifyed settings are back to standard.

You need to upgrade. AFAIK that was a "test" version that didn't yet store the settings.

The custom telemetry display is still a test version, and the settings are still not saved. We are probably at the point where they can now be saved, but as they will make the EEPROM files larger I think eepe would lose them if you edit a model using eepe. I will need to update eepe as well. This is why it isn't done yet.

Hello Mike,

I know that you are real busy.

Based on r771, I have implemented a lot of modifications into the NMEA version of ER9X, some of them also apply to some standard modules (audio.cpp, frsky.cpp, menus.cpp) to also support the native FrySky Sensor Hub protocol. (Data not sent as user packets but simply 5E ID byte byte 5E ID byte byte 5E ......)

Can you manage to implement these changes into the svn repository ?

Can I PM you?

Reinhard

Yes, PM me with the changes and I'll see what I can do. I have quite a few changes to put back as I have 800 bytes of flash savings to commit.

I've just released a new revision of er9x. It had so many changes I decided to release this, then I'll look at you NMEA changes.

Changes in latest revision:
Flash savings
Use Voice files 400-499, these need to be added to your SD card for numerics zero through 99
Voice output of timers added, these were not spoken correctly
Pot Scroll conditionally compile option added (not used yet), put in to allow rotary encoder instead
RAM saving by merging three static arrays
Two files converted to UNIX format - for companion9x compatibility
Rotary encoder driver conditionallly compiled in, not enabled in the released code, neede for my testing.

Thanks Mike,

Is the new Binary for the ER9x-FRSky? Will you post a link? I want to make sure I get the new firmware.

Thanks,

Tom

r773 is now out.

NMEA integration
Voice numerics - thousands and 2 decimals - need to load more voice files - thousands and 0006-0015 as "point x"
WSHH - voice metres if metric set
Rotary encoder additions - in development
Companion 9x patches added
Voice - "no telemetry" message added (0058)
Voice startup changed - hopefully bug fixed.

This rotary encoder looks like a interesting addition. Will there be later information about how to make this mod and what rotary encoder to use?
