er9x development

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

That's EXACTLY what I was missing in eePe! How come I didn't see these before?! :)

There seem to be an issue with "power-on shortcuts" in er9x-frsky-sv firmware. If I power the radio on with a button pressed, the radio stays on startup logo until the button is released. But then it doesn't load the model setting corresponding to the button pressed. Instead, it just starts normally and loads the model used last.
Same goes for the 'mute' option (holding 'Menu + Exit' at power on). As soon as 'Menu + Exit' are released, the radio plays the welcome message and then works as if it was never set to mute.

I see this behavior on provisional r820 of er9x-frsky-sv posted a couple of days ago in the 'testing' thread.

Not so much an issue, more a specific decision. At some point I chose to remove the "Quick Select" feature from the M64-FrSky version to save flash space (saves 138 bytes of flash). I felt it wasn't used much, maybe incorrectly.
What I also missed is the 'mute' check is part of the quickSelect() function.

How important is the "Quick Select" feature?
I'll make sure the "mute" function works anyway.

I rarely use quick select, so I could definitely live without it.
But the mute option is much more popular around here! :)

Thanks!!!

Mike, I was speaking with FlipFlap the developer for URLS.
He is going to contact you in the hopes of working together on a solution for APM and ER9x or ErSky9x to transport Mavlink via ULRS and have it picked up by the Radio for the Telemetry Screen. If we can incorporate the wherewithall to read the data coming from ULRS and have the Telemetry Data Points in er9x/ersky9x and just put them where we want on the Telemetry Screens, then we are golden! This will be 40km long range Telemetry and Flight Control via OrangeRx OpenLRS Setup. This is exciting...

Hi Mike et al, Happy New Year!
I have been meaning to comment on this as I have noticed a problem with the 'er9x-128_r819' but haven't had the time to do so.
If you Long Left Press (+) and then goto the Controls Menu and on the bottom in the Mode Section... you are able to change Mode 1-4 but you are not able to change the Stick Directions.
I have 3 radios that I have tested this on which all do the same....
Please advise.
I was able to change them in eePe but not on the radio.

Cheers.

Changing the stick directions should really be in the hardware menu, but it uses too much flash to move it there as the stick images are still needed in the Controls menu. What I have done though is to make changing the stick directions dependant on the hardware menu being enabled. Just power on holding the left horizontal trim to the left. This enables the hardware menu and also allows the stick direction editing to work. This is to prevent accidental changes of the stick directions.

Could the m128 and 2561 have it in the hardware menu? They have no flash problems ;)

Thanks

Hi Mike,
Is this also true for ER9X on the M64? I just tried it and I didn't get anything different than what I usually get on boot.
It beeped though, witch it normally doesn't.

First was the splash screen and then came the usual main menu. Pressing Menu or long left didn't reveal anything new.

I checked the latest Manual, at least I think it is the latest, and I couldn't find anything on it.
Is this something I should worry about?

Are you running r819 (or a later test version)? This feature was added then.
Due to lack of flash space on the M64-FrSky version only a very few of the hardware settings are available on the radio.

Yes, r819. EeePe prompted me to install it. The regular ER9X on M64.
I take it there are no changes for the HW settings in that version then?

I believe I have it fixed in the source code. I trying to get everything released, but I could post a test version of eepe.exe if you need it immediatly.

Would that be r420 then? I am on 419, and that wasn't released yet when I downloaded it.

Yes, I would be willing to test it.
