ER9X Mixing to Control Hydraulic - Help Required

Post by Tech1uk » Fri Dec 20, 2019 7:54 pm

Hi All,

Been a while since I've setup some mixes and to be honest I've forgotten a little.

Basically I have Turnigy 9XR running EX9R and I'm setting up a track loader with Hydraulics

I have 2 Hydraulic rams on Ch3 & Ch4 which are controlled via a standard servo, in a valve block

Now the Hydraulic pump is on a brushless ESC which only operates in the forward direction on Ch5. This is set to a switch so goes straight to +100

What I'm trying to setup is when I operate Ch3 or Ch4 the pump will cut in Ch5, this will safe me switching it on each time and over pressuring the system if left on.

Any help would be great

Cheers

Steve

We may need a bit more information to fully answer, but something like this. I'm assuming CH3 and CH4 are at 0% (centre) and move either side, and CH5 is -100% when the pump is off and +100% when it is on.
Set up a couple of logical switches:
L1 |v|<val CH3 1
L2 |v|<val CH4 1
Then combine them:
L3 OR L1 L2
Now just use L3 as the switch to turn ch5 on:
CH5: +100% FULL switch(L3)

Thanks Mike,

Sorry I should have added all the information to original post but your guess at my setup was correct.

Thanks for mixers, works a treat.
I just need to add a few adjustments like I don't want the pump to run at 100% when in normal operation, but add another "boost" switch for 100% if required.

I should be able to work the rest out now, if not I will be back :D :D

Thanks again,

Merry Xmas

Steve

Ypu could do even better, you could change the pump's speed using a pot, and adjust it to what you need. It would still turn on an off with the sticks. :)

To control the pump's speed try this:

Ch05 -100% FULL
R +100% P1 Switch(L3)

"R" means that it is a "Replace" mix. It will replace the mix above it, but in the same channel. P1 is Pot 1
Adjust P1 to change the pump's, speed. I guess the pump has a brushless speed controller, right?

Thanks João

This does work OK but to make it safer I would like to have P1 to only work if the Gear switch is on.

Is that possible ?

Cheers

Try adding another Logical switch
L4 AND L3 GEA

Then on Ch5

Ch05 -100% FULL
R +100% FULL Switch (L3)
R +100% P1 Switch(L4)

Many thanks, I have all that side of things sorted now.

Also very random issue, I can't get into Model setup or radio setup screen.
If I remember right menu long from any of the 5 main screens? doesn't work for some reason!

Any ideas

RIGHT LONG to the model select screen, LEFT LONG to the radio setup screen.
Depending on the revision of er9x you are using, MENU LONG on a main screen will bring up a "popup" selection where you may choose these.

I always use the popup. Can concentrate on other stuff when programming a model. :)
For me it was a bless as I can never remember key combinations. :)

If I was to update to the latest now would all model settings still work OK ??
Any point in updating too? Only got 2 trucks and 3 diggers on there

I think so, but backup your eeprom settings using eepe anyway before you update the radio..

Hi All,

I'm still having one issue here that I can't seem to get a round so I'm hoping some one can point me in the right direction.

I have the following setup and is working OK,

Mixer

CH03 +100%Ele
CH04 +100%Ail
CH05 +50%s Offset(50%)
CH06 +30%FULL Switch(ID0)
R +0%FULL Switch(ID1)
R -50%FULL Switch(ID2)
R +100%FULL Switch(L3 )
R -100%P1 Switch(L4 )

Custom Switch

SW1 CH3| < 1
SW2 CH4| < 1
SW3 L1 OR L2
SW4 L3 AND GEA

So on Ch3 & Ch4 I have the servos for operating the hydraulic valves
Ch6 is the pump for the hydraulics

Now I have set the ID1/2/3 switch to have different weight so the pump will run at a set speed depending on the switch position.
Then I have P1 set on gear switch on so I can set the pump speed to what ever I like and it will run at all times regardless of Ch3 or Ch4 position.
Now the issue I have if I have gear switch on and pump set to max 100% as soon as I move Ch3 or Ch4 the pump will revert back to the IDx set speed.

How can I make this so the IDx is ignored and Ch3/Ch4 will run at the defined speed I have set on P1 via gear?

Hope that makes sense, but I've probably made a hash of this

Happy New Year all
Cheers

Steve

Use:
R -100% P1 Switch(GEA)
I think.

Also, should SW3 be:
SW3 L1 AND L2
So the pump is off if BOTH CH3 and CH4 are at 0% ?

Thanks Mike,

I did work out R -100% P1 Switch(GEA) yesterday evening after I walked a way from it for a bit, but thanks anyway

Sometimes I just look to deep when really it is very simple :o

I've tried changing the OR to AND on SW3 but the both operate in the same way so I've left that for now.

For now I have everything I need and the TX is setup in the way I want it so thanks everyone for your help.

All the best for 2020

Steve
