Error loading temp.hex

Hi, Got a used Turnigy 9XR recently and was trying to flash it with Opentx but had problems (post in that section of forum) so thought I would try er9x and am getting a message saying "Error loading file D:/Temp/Temp/temp.hex: File may be corrupted, old or from a different system. You might need to update eePe"
eePe says there are no updates available and tried deleting the temp.hex but get same message and find a new temp.hex file has been made.
I wondered if there might be some problem with the path as it is using '/' in the path instead of '\'.

Did you actually flash Er9x to the radio?
If so, where did you get it from? where did you get that "temp.exe" file from?

I haven't managed to flash anything to the radio yet, I think I have saved a copy of the firmware from the Tx.
The eePe program appears to make the temp.hex file, I have also been trying the opentx, companion flashing software and discovered it also creates a temp.hex file.
I got a 'er9x-128.hex' file from the download button in eePe.

that temp.exe file might be an eeprom file, not a firmware one.

Before you flash that er9x-128 file, you need to find out which processor your radio has.. Is it an ATmega128??
If so, you can try flashing er9x.

Both eepe and Companion (I think) read the existing EEPROM to a temp.hex file before flashing firmware.

Tried flashing the er9x-128 file and it seemed to work but was a bit worried when it finished as Tx was showing 'eeprom error' but that has not come back.
On switch on it always shows throttle and alarms warning even though throttle is at zero and alarms are set.
Came across this chip type issue as soon as I started looking into this and had the back off and the chips is stamped with something like 'AT 128'.
The temp.hex file is always 9Kb when using either program, the backup.bin file that the option to copy the firmware off the Tx created is 127 Kb.

Ok, eeprom error the first time you restart the radio after flashing is normal. But if you flash it again make sure.you save your eeprom tobthe computer using eepe first or it will be erased by flashing.
Or, connect your radio to the PC, then in eepe go to the burn menu and click set fuses to protect eeprom (or something similar). This way, the eeprom won't be erased when you flash the radio. But it is good practice to always keep an actual copy of the eeprom on your computer just in case.

You are having the throttle warning at startup because you still didn't calibrate the sticks. Please go to "Radio Setup/Calibration" and follow the on-screen instructions in order to calibrate sticks and pots. Do not skip this step.

The switch warning means that by default, the front switches must be towards the top ofbthe radio, and the top switches towards the back ofbthe radio at power ON.

You can change the default switch settings in the firmware if you want a different configuration at power ON.

EDIT: The alarms warning at power ON, means the you have the alarms turned OFF. I think you just have to enable them in radio setup, but let me get to my radio, and I'll let you know.

Do you have the latest firmware installed?

Thanks for all that.
I calibrated the sticks but was still getting warning and noticed the position reading was -98.1 and had to push it down quite firmly to get it to -100 so recalibrated without pushing the stick right to the bottom and that has fixed it.
Firmware version is er9x-r820

Tip to calibrate the sticks..
Do not move them in the diagonal when calibrating, just do a cross pattern instead, and just lightly touch the ends. This will give you a good calibration.

For the Alarm warning. Please go to "Radio Setup/Alarms", then scroll down to "Alarm Warning" and tick the box in front of it. This should stop the warning at power ON

@Mike, is this setting still needed?? If not, could it be removed? If it is still needed, could you please set it to ON by default?
I think this setting was an anti-divorce measure implemented to stop the radio playing sounds at night when our family is a sleep, right? But now we do have the mute function by pressing the "Mute" and Exit" buttons at power ON?
Or is the Alarm Warning used for something else??

The Alarm warning occurs if the "Beeper" is set to "Quiet", and you haven't disabled the alarm warning. The Beeper default value is "Short", so you shouldn't get the Alarm Warning unless you change the Beeper to "Quiet".

Still, even if it is not the problem here, is the alarm warning setting still needed???

The alarm warning is there to tell you that you have sound muted, so that you know that any alarms or things you might have set up for your model will not sound.

That is not needed in Er9x/Ersky9x.
As I said above, to mute all audio in Er9x/Ersky9x, turn the radio ON while pressing the MENU and EXIT buttons. The radio play no audio unless rebooted normally. This way you won't forget the option enabled and won't be left without alarms.

So, if that is the only reason for the alarm warning setting to be there, it is absolutely unnecessary and therefore redundant.
Some bytes of flash memory could perhaps be saved by removing it

EDIT: Ok, there is the option "Quiet". But does it also make sense? The radio won't even warn you if its own battery is dead.. As far as I am concerned, this option could also be removed. Who would want the radio pemanently muted?
