How many forum members to change a light bulb?

Post by Rob Thomson »

This came from another forum but I think it applies to all forums - and is just plane funny!

----

How many forum posters does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.

53 to blame the spell checkers.

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames.

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb."

Another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive and do it in BLOCK CAPITALS

8 to get upset about others using BLOCK CAPITALS

Barry to tell us that there is an advert on page 21 of this months Advertiser advertising a light bulb changer

1 to tell us that Barrys recommendation is illegal as his ladders are 50com too short

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp."

1 to tell us he has a team of buyers who can get them at a great price for us

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy."

109 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum.

203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped.

I to complain it wouldn't happen in England and that you cant beat Asda

111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this forum.

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty.

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and to then post the corrected URL's.

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.

33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too."

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three."

1 to say that people are putting light bulbs in a bin outside his house and are making a noise

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.

44 to ask what a "FAQ" is.

4 to say "idn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

143 to say "o a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs."

10 posters to claim the light bulb failed because of GATV's signals

18 posters to say Grannet is far better

20 to denounce those 18 and blame the failure on Hans and his administration of the forum.

1 to say that if you were any damn good at all you wouldn't need the freaking light bulb.

1 to say he has a forum about changing light bulbs with 145 hits a day

3 to say that those of you talking about light bulbs aren't working and should get back to work.

1 to say that there's really 7 that are burned out, and the government's lying to us that there's only 1.

14 ask Barry to ask Loretta what shes doing about the dog poo as its getting on their light bulbs

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again
Slope Soaring, FPV, and pretty much anything 'high tech'
...........if you think it should be in the wiki.. ask me for wiki access, then go add it!

LED's are better than light bulbs. Everyone knows that. You can run them from a NIMH battery and control them from linux with a perl script made in vi . who needs a GUI anyway. Any other way is just plain wrong because it worked for me like this ;)

An incandescent "lamp"is still much cheaper than it's LED replacement. And with the proper interface circuit and relay it can still be controlled by your Perl script! Cheaper bulb= more money for beer!

Errrrrrr, why all this discussion about light bulbs :D

I was under the impression that they'd been deprecated in favour of Low power consumption LED's

Reminds me of the good old days in the Flight Simulator forums on Compuserve, and yeah, I'm giving my age away again, but hey, who cares.

If it was easy, shure, would't we all be doin it?

was my email a bunch of numbers with a (semi)colon in it.? wasnt even called the internet. dont even remember if they called it email

bought my very first downloaded program thru there. 'winzip' that upgrade key worked for years and years. I got my moneys worth

Downloaded my very first pic from a 'group'? took an hour to download a scanned photo of a rose bud. think I had a fast modem at 14.4k, but maybe it was 9600 ? This was in the fall of 1990. I remember waiting waiting waiting , and was disappointed

Had my first 'social' contact circa 1994. I was reading something in a 'group' and got chatted up from a guy from San Fran. I think he was drunk. He called said I was 'stuck in a cornfield in Indiana' . He wasnt far from right :)

Remember paying money for a program. It allowed you to connect to a 'group' download all the subject lines of the posts, then disconnect you. offline you flagged all the posts you wanted the body of. then it reconnected you and retrieved them. Compuserve was a metered use thing. I remember spending close to $100 one month, hence the mentioned program.

First time I remember the internet was late summer 1995. I got a laptop and AOL.

Oh, and I have never bought, downloaded or , looked for shareware of a light bulb online :)
