Oh... Now I know open9x has a prompt to warn if changing the direction of the mix... This one happened with a change of flight mode that the mix would be active in.

Maybe worth adding another prompt?

you are lucky to get just that. The only safety measure is as you said: leave the prop off or change programing while a few steps away from the plane.
yesterday, I was fooling around with ersky9x with a bare motor attached (not even mounted), and at one point, throttle was activated, this little darn motor just jumped all over my desk, luckily did not break my monitor or a bunch of frysky sensor wire around. ;)

I did a range check and left the plane in the garage watching telemetry strenght.. When I got back there was some chaos. The failsafe kicked in and throttle was set to 50%..

Safety switches
Safety switches

After this happened to me for the nth time I decided I had to do something about it! The problem is that I came from the methanol crowd. You do not expect the motor to go Jason on you unexpectedly. With electrics you have to set up some sort of routine to prevent it.

And though beer might have been involved in creating this it probably is just as good in curing it too.... Cheers!
