You could also program in a custom switch/curve to apply a little down elevator when you go past 70% throttle!
Slope Soaring, FPV, and pretty much anything 'high tech'
...........if you think it should be in the wiki.. ask me for wiki access, then go add it!

I normally would say, don't throw the model upward when starting, throw it flat.
Your starting speed obviously is not high enough for climbing, so the model drops down.

In my case is not a matter of lack of power.. my plane can climb nearly vertically.. it's really the wrong motor angle

João,
Just received my tray, nicely packaged and didnt realise it was made up of so many bits.
All ive got to do now is glue it together.
Thanks again for the heads up, cant wait to try it. First have to finish moding my radios, both are in a no go state at the moment.

Hi João,
Finished assembling the stand, but unfortunately my 9x doesnt fit properly.
You know the little notches on either side that the handle fits into and the locking devices that come over the handle to lock it.
These are to low. It appears the distance between where the base of the radio sits and these little notches the handle sits in are
165mm. Measuring this distance on the radio, i make it at 175mm so we seem to be short by 10mm.
I havnt been on to JB yet as i will try and send him some pics tomorrow.
I will have to try and move the locking devices up and this may make it useable.

Les, please send him some pics. I find it very strange because it is laser cut.

Yes i was a bit surprised as well. When i saw they were laser cut i also thought that one would be able to slot the assembly together dry. But not so, i tried before glueing but the fit was quite sloppy. Thats why i had to glue it before i could try and fit it. Those measurements i gave should have had 100mm added
i will edit my post shortly.

Just read your post above again and the difference is 10mm not 100mm.. Ok, before you change something can you post pics so I can compare to mine? I will call my friend back in Portugal.. As I said, I find it strange because I think laser cutters don't make mistakes like that. But since I saw a pig ridding a bike, I believe in everything.. :)

What i meant re the 100mm was the two measurements i gave you should have been 165 and 175mm but the difference is tsill 10mm as u say. I was wondering if the 2 back vertical plates are a diff height for other radios.
Its morning now so will get some pics together and send to JB. I noticed from your pics that there are diff between yours and mine.

UPDATE:
Just tried my Stock 9x and now know that its a very snug fit into the stand and fits beautifully). The problem is with my Ersky9x radio, the mini din connector sticks out a little and because of the snug fitting there is not enough room to for the radio to move and slot in
properly to the stand. Will just have to make the slot for the charger socket(now mini din socket) a little wider and my esky9x should fit.
Very pleased how it fits, looks. Thanks Joao for the intro to the Tray.

I thought it could be something simple. The tray was made for the 9x case without anything sticking out :) I hope you have as much fun with it as I'm having with mine.. It makes it really easier to launch the planes.. I only started this thread because I thought the tray was a good idea and it looks really nice.
Please post some pictures of yours here

Yes a real P.I.A. My best bet is to see if i can swapp handles with someone as there seem to be many people with spare radios and im sure they are not
using the stand that we have. Rob was thinking of getting one of those stands, did he get one?.

I have no idea.. Maybe Rob can answer that..
The guy that makes them is a friend of mine from my old club but lives 3000 Km from here.. I don't speak to him everyday ;)

But I will probably call him tomorrow and tell him about this 9x handle problem. He had only one radio there and we all assumed that there is only one size..
Is that one of those radios that HK was selling without module? I'm asking because of the other difference in the module bay around the pins.. If it is would be interesting if people would check the handles to see if they're all bigger..

I have 3 radios, an old one without plastic, a newer one with module and with plastic, and one without module and with plastic... All have the same short handle.

Gotta love Chinese.

Here is another tray construction.
Senderpult ebay
Maybe it´s not so fuzzy what kind of radio you put in it.
It looks like a copy of Hobbykings tray.
Hobbyking tray
And if you look at both of them you realize that you could do them yourself !

Sorry for the delay in taking the bait. Spent most of the day helping out/operating an event station ---> http://www.qrz.com/db/GB2MBA
ABBC3_OFFTOPIC
Ermmm... Last time I looked I didn't see any tray that is designed for thumb flyers. Thumb flying is a throwback to the times when single channel button systems and toggle switches on the more advanced reed systems were the order of the day.
I like the German tray. Almost tempted to buy it.

Hi João, I have just found this old thread while looking for information on a Tx tray for myself. I tried the link on the first page of the thread and it does not work. Do you know if your friend can still make these as I would be interested in a flat pack version.
