Failsafe settings and a dash of confusion!

Hey guys,

So I am trying to figure out which failsafe settings I want to use. I have the Taranis x9d plus and I am using all X6R RX's on my models. So I know that I can set failsafe in the RX itself but what is this failsafe setting in the radio with opentx 2.1. Is this setting compatible with my RX's? How does it work? How does setting failsafe settings on you transmitter function properly on the RX when there is signal loss? Thanks guys

From the Taranis Manual
Step 5: Set Failsafe mode
There are 4 failsafe modes: No Pulse, Hold, Custom and receiver (this mode only used above opentx-v2.0.0 firmware).
● No Pulse: on loss of signal the receiver produces no pulses on any channel. To use this type, select it in the menu and wait 9 seconds for the failsafe to take effect.
● Hold: the receiver continues to output the last positions before signal was lost. To use this type, select it in the menu and wait 9 seconds for the failsafe to take effect.
● Custom: pre-set to required positions on lost signal. Move the cursor to “Set” and press ENTER, you will see FAILSAFE SETTING screen below. Move the cursor to the channel you want to set failsafe on, and press ENTER. When moving the corresponding sticks or switches, you will see the channel bar moving. Move the channel bar to the place you want for failsafe and long press ENTER to finish the setting. Wait 9 seconds before the failsafe takes effect.
●Receiver: set the failsafe on the receiver (see receiver instructions) in D16 or LR12 mode, select it in the menu and wait 9 seconds for the failsafe to take effect.

Fair enough thanks. Is using the RX more reliable than using the transmitter for failsafe. Ive set failsafe before using the RX but the taranis is new to me.

Hopefully someone else can answer which is more reliable.
Remembering to do it is another thing. OpenTX will warn us to set failsafe on FrSky modes that support it. If we set it to Receiver we need to remeber that every time a receiver is bound the failsafe needs to set and tested again. I've rarely seen failsafe tested and I've seen long times flyers learning about failsafe maybe because some brands of Rx always have failsafe since they fix Throttle pin outs?
