New features provided by open9x

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

A mid flight fire! Not fun :)

Glad you are enjoying open9x. It is surprisingly good.

Kinda a mix of the best from all the firmwares, and a whole lot more!

If I could fault anything on it; it would be that it takes a little longer to setup the models due to the extra option you have. (telemetry that is)

In function switches -- I'm having problems configuring the Safety Channel 3 feature for Throttle. I can't get a negative number when using the transmitter to set this up. Works fine when setting up with companion.

What am I missing. I scoured the wiki and I'm afraid it was obvious staring me in the face and I missed some trick.

Go in the function switches, set the switch you want, choose Security CH3, then set -100 and tick the checkbox - that's all it should take.

Which revision? I can't see a problem on the current r1195.

I just got my Sky9x board installed and I'm running open9x. I have a few questions about sounds. I cannot get my system to play a Welcome or startup sound. What file is supposed to be played at startup? What file is supposed to be played when the inactivity alarm goes off? With my SD card installed, I get this really annoying noise and without the SD card, I get a beeping sound. I have tried to listen to all of the sounds on the SD card and I can't find anything that sounds like the noise that's played after a period of inactivity. When I have my SD card in, I get a voice alarm for low TX battery, but it rapidly repeats infinitely, which is incredibly annoying. If that happened when I was flying, I may crash on purpose just to turn it off. I saw how to prevent the repeated files by using a momentary switch, which I did for my throttle kill switch. I'm sure there are other questions, but that's what I have so far. The sound files I'm using are in a folder called 9XSOUNDS and there is a SYSTEM subfolder. I downloaded the sounds from the sound library forum. Thanks in advance!

I don't get a startup sound either (ersky9x board + open9x), not sure whether it should play something. Does anyone know?

There's a file "SYSTEM/inactiv.wav", isn't that the one being played?

I'm at work now so don't have the 9x handy, but I think you can do something like the following:
- Set the Tx voltage warning to a really low voltage (or disable it if possible)
- Create a custom switch (say CS1) which checks the Tx voltage (something like v<offset, Tx voltage, 7.50V), duration 0.5, interval 30sec
- Set up a function switch for CS1, play file (or play voice, forgot the exact description) with "lowbat.wav" or "SYSTEM/lowbat.wav"
Depends on whether the Tx voltage is available as a parameter for custom switches, not sure if that's the case. If it is, then the above should play the "lowbat.wav" file every 30 seconds once the Tx voltage is below the threshold as defined by the offset of CS1.

The inactivity wav file isn't the one being played. That would make sense, but it's not the case. I'll have to try the custom switch idea for the battery alarm.

Anyone have any ideas about the start up sound?

There is an issue I have not had the chance to look at as have been away. The system sounds are not playing the correct wav for the event.

Bertrand... If you see this post.. The issue came in when the tada event was removed. The enumeration seems to have the wrong events mapped to it.

Yes, a bug has been fixed on audio / arm, all wav files are shifted due to a missing comma. Will be part of next release.

No there is a problem that I didn't begin to investigate seriously for now, perhaps I will ask for some help from Mike:
http://code.google.com/p/open9x/issues/detail?id=95
And I also want to get rid of this enhancement to avoid another EEPROM change:
http://code.google.com/p/open9x/issues/detail?id=92
Plus some work in progress with Martin on the VOICE option on stock board.
That's all for now ...
Bertrand.

Hi developers
Is there a rough scedule when the next open9x revision is available?
Because of lack of ability time energy to install a compiler environment I'm stuck to rev. 1195 on open9x/ersky_en_(eventually autoswitch).
I would be glad to join the beta testing but since your all are on revisions further on I doubt it makes sense or rather confuses to send my comments on this revision.
Is there anybody who could send me a rather stable actual beta? I suppose its possible to burn eeprom and flash directly from file even with the old companion9x.
Best regards

If Rob or Baptiste gives a good feedback on my last revision, I will be tonight or tomorrow morning!
This release is major, you will need to update companion9x in the same time and convert your EEPROM.

Hi,
the reply posted 30 Aug 2012 00:06 and now what is tonight or tomorow morning? Strictly it looks 30.8 tonight or 31.8 morning or you write it at 29.8 and we would close the eyes for that 6 mins? ;)
