Flight Pack Capacity
Flight Pack Capacity
Today I flashed my 9x (frsky mod) with the latest open9x (1195). Then I created a new model, went to the telemetry config screen and configured A1 with range 40.0A, no offset. At UsrData: Proto None and Current A1. After I powered my receiver (D4FR) on with around 4.6V the telemetry display of the tx showed at A1 14.1A. What is very strange is that the calculated capacity sums up very fast. It took for around 1000mAh only 1min what means A1 should read around 60A. Another strange thing is that when I went to the telemetry config screen (rx still on) and configured display to only show A1 -> back to telemetry screen to show A1 -> back to telemetry config screen and disconfigured display to only show A1 -> back to to telemetry screen the reading of the calculated capacity is very slow. Now it took more then 8min for 1000mAh. After I turned the tx off and on again the reading of the calculated capacity is again very fast. Am I doing something completely wrong?

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
what is your current sensor type?
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
type is 'none' so current is proportional to measured A1 voltage.gbirkus wrote:what is your current sensor type?
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
ok. i only have fas-100 sensor. But later i try to do some test with volt sensor connected to A1 and setting it up like current sensor.
bdw: A1 need to have voltage from 0-3.3 Volts. If it is used like current what voltage output is on sensor when 0Amp is consumed? 0 or 1.65 V ?

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
for a first test I only measured receiver battery voltage which is divided over the internal voltage divider. later I will use this sensor:gbirkus wrote:bdw: A1 need to have voltage from 0-3.3 Volts. If it is used like current what voltage output is on sensor when 0Amp is consumed? 0 or 1.65 V ?

it will output 0V to 5V (have to build a voltage divider).
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
hmm now i see that you use D4RF - there is only RX voltage telemetry value.
if you would like to measure consumed Flight Pack Capacity you must have telemetry for pack voltage and pack current.
For test purposes I tried it with my D8R where A1 is internal voltage sensor (i don't have two external sensors) and A2 external voltage sensor
In open9x telemetry screen I set up A1 channel range and offset to see real A1 voltage (5V on RX) (this is only test then i don't measure battery voltage)
A2 channel set range to 12.6 (3Slipo) now i see 11 volts of my discharged battery. Change on A2 Range v to A (voltage to Ampere)
Now on UsrData section, set Proto to None, Voltage to A1, Current to A2
now on telemetry I see A1=5V, A2=11A, power 550W and consumption still growing mAh.
This is only for test purposes I used two voltage sensors where one of them is configured like current sensor in open9x.
You must have receiver with external A1 and A2 telemetry inputs. (in case you use 2Slipo without BEC it is theoretically enough A1internal and A2external)
or use Hub with current and voltage sensors connected to data port of receiver.

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
Not at all, used capacity only needs current. Voltage is only needed for power calculation.gbirkus wrote:if you would like to measure consumed Flight Pack Capacity you must have telemetry for pack voltage and pack current.
It seems the bug where scaling is wrong if the current source is A1/A2 is back though:
5V * 11A is 55W, not 550I see A1=5V, A2=11A, power 550W and consumption still growing mAh.
Now how fast were mAh counting? Might be 10x too fast too.
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
at rcgroups are some hacks to modify the D4FR for external voltagegbirkus wrote:hmm now i see that you use D4RF - there is only RX voltage telemetry value.
yes, that is ok - but how fast do the mAh grow? for my current reading it grows MUCH to fast. for a reading ofgbirkus wrote:now on telemetry I see A1=5V, A2=11A, power 550W and consumption still growing mAh.
14.1A it should show after 1min around 235mAh and not 1000mAh...
if you want to test it it should show around 183mAh after 1min at 11A or am I wrong ?
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
sure it was 55W i write it after lunch and for consumption it's enough only current sensor.
ok i will do test of the speed later.
ok i will do test of the speed later.
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
it is a bug 550W is shown. vhen A1=5V A2=11A
if FAS-100 is used for volts and amperes 55W is shown.
if FAS-100 is used for volts and amperes 55W is shown.
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
235mAh(minute) x 60 minutes = 14100mAh(hours) it is 14.1A then it is ok!JayPi01 wrote: 14.1A it should show after 1min around 235mAh and not 1000mAh...

for consumption my test on A1/A2 and FAS/FAS looks same 11A current, 1min consumption cca 190mAminute what is 11400mAh
1A current , 1min consumption 16mAminute, 60 times 960mAh cca 1A
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
yes, that is correct. but my tx shows 1000mAh not 235 mAh at 14.1A.gbirkus wrote: 235mAh(minute) x 60 minutes = 14100mAh(hours) it is 14.1A then it is ok!
Re: Flight Pack Capacity
Hmm, might be on something...
What are the options you selected for the firmware in c9x preferences (your hex file name will do)?

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
But there is no audio here Kilrah! So it's not the same issue than #95, this one has been fixed by Gabriel, am I right?

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
Nope, which is why I asked, hadn't seen the answer yet
And no, this is not linked to what Gabriel fixed. He fixed power display, I confirmed that was working, but this is about mAh. I could confirm that A2 as current source was badly scaled, in my case by about 2.2x. But then JayPi01 apparently has an error of approx 4x...

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
Yes, the consumption in mAh is the original issue.
but it seems everyone has different scaling issue. in my case there is only 1.2x

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
same issue with open9x-r1336
at 15A it took only 1min for 1000mAh. this is around 4x to fast.

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
I have found, it should be fixed on SVN now. I will wait for some tests and release again.bertrand35 wrote:Which settings do you have on A1?JayPi01 wrote:same issue with open9x-r1336

Now it is ok.
A1=15A consumption=250mAminute
A2=1A consumption=16mAminute
A1=15A consumption=250mAminute
A2=1A consumption=16mAminute

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
Excellent, then I will release tonight. For ersky9x users there should be the CPU consumption + its alarm available.

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
bertrand, thank you for the very fast fixing of the issue. will there be an new 'official' release or should i download via svn and compile myself?

Re: Flight Pack Capacity
We didn't release yesterday because of an electric problem on the compilation server farm. We will hopefully release tonight.
