Hi Gang

This is my first post. I hope I'm in the right section. I'm having trouble trying to flash my Turnigy 9XR-Pro with OpenTX. I have done the following.
  1. Download OpenTX Companion 2.3.9
  2. Clicked on Settings > Radio Profiles > Add Radio Profile and created a profile for my specific radio.
  3. Clicked on File > Download > Check for updates, Download firmware, Download SD contents.
  4. I've placed the SD contents on a SD card and put .bin file in the 'FIRMWARE' folder.
  5. I've place the SD card into the radio and put it into bootloader mode.
  6. I can see the .bin file so I press the MENU button to Flash File.
  7. Flashing completes and OpenTX starts.
On the surface everything appears to be OK however...

If I go to SETUP > External RF > Mode and try and change it the radio seems to reset.

I've tried connecting the radio to OpenTX Companion to Write Firmware to Radio but I get an error (see attached).

I've done my homework but I'm really confused as to where I'm going wrong. Suggestions?

Cheers

Jase :)

OpenTX, as far as I know, doesn't develop for that radio anymore.
I believe there are even some bugs / problems that were never fixed.
I think your best option is to flash ErskytX. It is still being developed for all supported radios, and the Pro is one of them. It is also an excellent firmware with amazing features :)
You can get it at www.er9x.com
Download also "eepe" and install it. You will also find "eepskye" inside eepe's installation folder. Use it to flash ErskyTX to your radio. You can also edit your models with it.
Make sure you flash the right firmware for your radio. There are many firmware files inside the zip file, for all the other radios.
Of course you don't have to use eepskye to flash the firmware. You could just copy it to the "firmware" folder on the radio's SD Card. Don't forget to also update the bootloader.

Hi jhsa

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm beginning to think it might be time to retire the radio.

Cheers

Why? Only because you can't get OpenTX on it? :)
As I suggested, try ErskyTX. You might get a good surprise. Maybe you like it. :) Well, I do. It is the firmware I use on all my radios.

Jase, the Turnigy 9XR-Pro is a horrible radio... I will be glad to help you recycle it though. Just send it to me lol!
