9X Radio

Post by Rob Thomson »

The 9X Radio is sold in under a number of different brand names.

Eurgle, Turnigy, FlySky, Imax etc

The are all exactly the same radio - just a different badge on the front!

This is by no means a complete list of suppliers, but try the following:

R2 Hobbies
Hobby King
Leader Hobby
Giant Cod
Ebay

I am sure there are many more suppliers. These are just a few that I know exist!

Rob
Slope Soaring, FPV, and pretty much anything 'high tech'
...........if you think it should be in the wiki.. ask me for wiki access, then go add it!

Well, with the exception of one physical difference that should be noted.

For some reason, alot of the flysky branded radios come with the 2.4 antenna mounted on the back of the module.

REcently however, the flysky picture at the hobbypartz site shows the antenna mounted on the body of the radio, not the module like it used to be.

The turnigy badged and others for some reason come with the 2.4 antenna mounted to the top of the chassis of the radio, with an awkward wire going from the module to the radio body which requires some delicate modification to completely remove the module. Some have made a modification to the turnigy to mount the antenna to the module. If I can find that link I will post it.

You should also note that there are 2 "generations" of the printed circuit board as well in these radios. So far I can't tell how to guarantee you'll get the gen2 one. It's only an issue if you want to mod the radio.
You can read about it here...

Rob,

Since you were so successful at prodding your friend Boris at R2 Hobbies to carry replacement LCDs, I wonder if you might consider doing the same about a 9x without any RF components - module, receiver or antenna. I bet he could sell a slew of them at around $30 or so. Just a thought.

UK/European customers ibn particular - GiantCod (http://www.giantcod.co.uk/index.php)have the FlySky version IN STOCK at the moment 10/1/2012 at 14:55 GMT.
I got a notification of 99 in stock at 13:20. It's definately down to 98 already

I've just received my latest FlySky Tx from Giantcod. It has what we call a V1 main board in it, i.e. the pad for programming is on the wrong connection. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a deliberate policy by the original manufacturer, to make it more difficult to re-flash to other firmware .

They won't stop an ersky9x board being fitted instead

Oh, and the first of these I had included the 35Mhz aerial, this one just has a rubber bung instead.

Thanks, I was just letting others know in case they get one. I just dive in with a connector and a soldering iron.

Snap!
I just got one of those
Has your first one (with the aerial) got V1 board? Haven't checked mine yet.
Good thought though, electronic countermeasure, doesn't work against a soldering iron (so far) ;)
At least the black colour and the better looking switches are appreciated here.
As an afterthought, the haptic mod combined with pogo pins?? no thanks

It would appear that leaders has raised the 9x price to $58 and is not taking orders after 168 backordered at $38?
It may also be true that HK china is not taking orders but has stock in the US store that will.
I guess the word got out that you don't have to spend $300 and up to get a radio with telemetry and great mixes?

I ordered one from HK china recently

placed order 12/21/2011 ( it was on backorder, appx 800 people in front of me )
just before new years a shipment of 500 came in. I was still on backorder.
1/13/2012 another shipment came in and one was reserved for me.
1/18/2012 order was shipped.
2/2/2012 order was received (USA )

Entire order was complete . shipping time was good considering Chinese New Years. This was my first order with HK. I had chatted with their CS a couple times and they did respond. Now going to order a battery for tx.

While my TX was on backorder I got impatient and bought one off of ebay from a USA reseller.
It has a ?serial? number on bottom : 674190
the one I just got from HK says: 1056151
not sure if this is sequential nor how long the ebay seller had sat on the one he sold.
they look the same except the newer HK one has a CE sticker on the back. both are V2
So I got 2 tx. one to use and one to hack around with. this way when I fry something I wont be dead in the water :)

Word must be getting out there now that this is one of the hottest ... programmable TX's you can get for under $50 bucks ....... cool!!!

Glad I got mine ... but it took 6 weeks to get here..... but worth every second and cent .... it is now fully hacked and runs like a trooper ...

Wow Imagine the money these guys are making in interest alone !!! $39 x 1500 = $57,000 in cold crisp cash ..... if you have that sitting in the bank for a month ...

Wonder what their back order bank account limits is at?

The mode 1 version of the 9x at LeadersHobby is $5 cheaper than the mode 2. Unfortunately, it's still $15 more expensive than last week. The wait list is shorter for mode 1 as well.

How did you get your Wish List to display the detail like that (number of units on BO, etc.?)

1. login
2. click the home button
3. scroll way down and look on the right hand side.

It shows items in reverse order as added to wish lists. only 9 items are shown. This little chart isnt on all their pages but I can find it thru the 'home' page as listed above.

I am using the google chrome browser AKA 'chromium-browser' on Ubuntu Oneiric
