9x Compatible Modules
It would be nice to have a list of these. I think I've seen that some modules need some soldering and/or programming to work true?
I have the leadershobby 9x with the removable module/antena.
leadershobby 9x Will this module work? For the 9x that has the built in antena, I know this one works but needs some soldering... How 'bout this one?

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
yes just plug in,
yes best module for DIY with some soldering,
and why do you want the adaptor ?
I am waiting the DIY to be shipped, and will do a guide / how to on it once I get it. At the same time I will also do the Telemetry mods.

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
The module is used to allow you to use a futaba module on a jr socket (believe thats the case)
To be fair.. only really of use if you have some old futaba modules!

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
I need a module to ouptut Spektrum DSM2 (or DSMX, never mind). 8 or 9 channels.
From what I have seen so far, the modules come in two flavours
- futaba style
- JR style
What is the difference (dimensions, connectors, logic level, protocol ? ) and which of the two (or both) fit into and work with the 9x, please?
Thanks, Hamburger

You would want a jr dm9 airmod if going for a plug in solution. I have one in a radio. Works perfectly.
The alternative is to pull a rf module out of an old spektrum radio and use that. (just a little soldering required)

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
The plug-in Frsky telemetry capable module + 8ch receiver combo costs less than the DIY module + 8ch receiver. Therefore I see very little point in soldering/fidling with the DIY.RCPlaneHobby.com wrote:

Do I miss something?
Hobbyking also carries 9X compatible Corona modules and receivers. Frsky is far superior so that's about it but the Corona shall also be listed here.
Re: 9x Compatible Modules
thanks for the quick answer,
but I got some questions left
Casings for modules to fit into JR are on sale galore, so it seems like a feasable way to go.
Thanks again.
but I got some questions left
in which way does a spektrum module for futaba not fit? just physical dimensions or electric/electronically? Market seems to be short on the spektrum for JR modules currently.rob.thomson wrote:You would want a jr dm9 airmod if going for a plug in solution. I have one in a radio. Works perfectly.
sounds like a real alternative. I could get a transmitter thing out of a dx6i. Is it a known procedure how to attach the binding button? The alternative is to pull a rf module out of an old spektrum radio and use that. (just a little soldering required)

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
The DM9 airmod is completely different physical dimensions
If you take a module from a DX6i, you will set your models protocol to the DSM2 option.
From that point onwards, simply holding the trainer switch on startup makes the module enter bind mode. No extra button to install

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
ok. I saw the thread and howto install and use a module from dx4.
So this and the one from dx6i take a ppm input signal @ 3.3v and do the spektrum dsm2 stuff, right?

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
In theory. Yes.
the only thing I dont know is the specifics for the DX6i mod.
I imagine it would be much the same module as the DX4, but have never opened one to see!
No doubt someone else on here will know

If it's like a atmx10 or 11, should be no problem, but, from what i recall, it is different, it will work though. Post a pic of the innards,

Re: 9x Compatible Modules -- Spektrum
Fitting a Spektrum DM9 module to the 9x poses some problems because the pins on the 9x a re slightly shorter than those on a real JR transmitter. With mine, the module works only if I push it in and up and hold it there. I'm sure it could be made to work, perhaps by finding some longer pins.
I've had no problem with either FrSky or Fly Dream modules in this respect.
I gave up on the Spektrum module effort, since I have two perfectly good JR transmitters that accept the module, and I'm quite happy with FrSky for my 9x transmitters.
I will have a go at installing a short range Spektrum module internally for indoor flying.
By the way, the myth keeps getting repeated that you will fry something if you plug a module into the 9x. This was at least partly true of the old JR fixed frequency FM modules, which required +6v from the transmitter on a pin that is grounded in the 9x. But it isn't true of the Spektrum module, which has its own voltage regulator and simply ignores that pin. Same with FrSky, FlySky, etc. -- no problem of voltage.
Note also that though the 9X is called a 9-channel transmitter, it was only on the old FlySky PCM modules that you could get 9 channels. Otherwise, it's a standard 8-channel PPM setup, so don't expect more.

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
Hi Nigel, I got the impression they were not refering to the plastic snap in part of the module... just hacking the PCB or brain from inside the module and making it work like they did with the other spektrum boards. I could be wrong though.Fitting a Spektrum DM9 module to the 9x poses some problems because the pins on the 9x a re slightly shorter than those on a real JR transmitter

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
right on both accounts.
Originally I want(ed) a spektrum module to plug into the t9x.
Now I am targetting the other route, just getting the pcb which does the HF+spektrum stuff.
thanks on all accounts. Hamburger

Oh wait, guess what...
The DX6i is a atmx11 thingy.
Since that's the case, it's Easy to install, and it will work.
Re: 9x Compatible Modules
Is there a module can be adapted to use with walkera Rx on the er9x/T9X?
I have been looking for one but cannot find any thing. I have several walkera model and 2601,2602 walkera Tx. It would be nice if someone can point me where can I get a module or mod the walkera Tx module.

Re: 9x Compatible Modules -- Spektrum
I don't quite understand what you mean. I run a DM9 in the 9x. Didn't give a 2nd thought regarding pin length. Are you saying that the OEM DM9 module does not fit the 9X well due to shorter pins? I have one in the flysky version for a year now running fine.
Now, you have me worry about the connection!

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
I also have a DM9. The only thing that I found is the DM9 expects a larger diameter pin (I know it is square, didn't know a better way to say it). On mine I simply bent the pins a little to one side so it makes sure they are touching inside the module. Of course there could be a run of 9x's with different length/diameter pins. So just check yours and if it works great!

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
I found an empty dm9 module case. I stuck my homemade module from a dx4e inside and hot glued a servo connector in the dm9 where the pins come in. Works great and in the end I had a "dm9" module for about $20.

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
Sorry. To be specific:
Dx4e was free because I bought an MCPx when the RTF was the same price as the BNF.
Empty DM9 case was $12 at my local hobby shop... he just happen to have one.
The ubec/vr was a couple bucks from HK.

Re: 9x Compatible Modules
Is Open9x compatible with this new Orangerx module? Is it just plug and play and the 9x would talk to all the spectrum dsm2 and dsmx receivers? If so, that's great news, no soldering.
