What skills do you need to start working on the 9x? Any recommended hardware?

Soldering iron timer

Post by ShowMaster »

Ever since I went on a cruse and left the soldering iron on in the garage I've used a timer on my electronics bench. I use a mechanical wall timer from the hardware store and mounted it in a box that powers my main power strip. It only runs for an hour so I have to reach over and give it a turn if I remember too, but it's great piece of mind when I leave the garage. I urge anyone that uses a heater, or any devices like our irons, or glue guns, to make one up. Great piece of mind to be going down the road running late and wonder if you shut it all off, especially if you heading for the airport or curse line for a much needed vacation, not to mention just a weekend away. OK, enough said, you get the picture.

My soldering station shuts down if it senses that it is not actually being used.

Not sure how it does it, but it means I no longer can forget to shut it off.
Doesn't help me with my Monokote iron though.....
