Mixing down elevator with flaps
Mixing down elevator with flaps
New to openTX and have recently installed firmware in Turnigy 9X TX.
Currently running Companion9X but this is also new to me.
HELP NEEDED
I have searched this forum and Googled but still havent found a way to mix a bit of elivator with 3 way switch on my Turnigy 9X+Open9x...
I have tried several ways after watching youtube vids but dont come close to a solution.
Basiclly i want a small amount of elevator when flaps are engaged.
Pos0: 0% Flap 0% down elevator
Pos1: 30% Flap 10% down elevator
Pos2: 60% Flaps 25% down elevator. % amounts are just for illustration.
Current mix settings for 3 way switch.
(0%) MAX Switch(ID0) Slow(u2:d2)
(+30%) MAX Switch(ID1) Slow(u2:d2)
(+60%) MAX Switch(ID2) Slow(u2:d2)
This gives me 3 way flaps but cannot seem to add in elevator mix.
I know other ways to operate flaps via 3 way switch from internet and perhaps i need curves but cant find an example.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
Many ways to do this. Basically you want to add some mixes to you elevator channel.
A quick way is just to repeat the last two mixes you have for the flaps on the elevator channel:
(+10%) MAX Switch(ID1)
(+25%) MAX Switch(ID2)
Change the +10% and +25% as needed, and make them -10% and -25% if the elevator goes the wrong way.

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
This is one of the ways of doing it.. Probably the easiest..
Add another mix on the elevator channel:
CH2 100% Ele
100% 3POS (Curve) Slow (u2:d2)
Then Curve 1: 3 point curve
0, 10, 25
Play with the curve values as needed
João
EDIT: Mike, that way he can't add the slow as he wanted, as there is more than one mix line on the channel

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
I know! I also thought the slow on the flap channel (on 3 mix lines) wouldn't work properly either.

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
Thank you both very much. Easy when you know how hey...
I have implimented Mikes method for now and have slow flaps working with elevator mix also moving slowly.
I will look at the Curve method just so i have a greater understanding of how it works and to gain a better understanding of this powerfull firmware.
Again thank you both for promp replys....

MrCuss
Is there any chance you could upload the template for your flap - elevator mix?
I'm still having trouble trying to make it work.
Thanks
Jim

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
I've tried to mix down elevator with flaps, but I get a jumpy, uneven transition.
I'm running rev:347 of eepe. on my radio.
The servos on the Carbon Cub were preset for a Spectrum RX which I'm not using.
My eepe file is here.

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
Hi Jim,
for smooth transition you can use flight modes as in the attached file.
In addition if you look at the modes page (own trim) you can use separate trims for each flight mode.
In most cases you can use this separate trims instead of mixing flaps to elevator.

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
Hi Klaus
Thanks for your quick response.
My version of ER9X does not appear to show "flight modes".
The attached file doesn't do anything.
I have noticed if I remove the slow up and down the transition is smoother, although it is also instantaneous.

Re: Mixing down elevator with flaps
I'm using rev 347.
I found the solution to uneven flap transition here.
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=588&p=7284&hilit=2 ... laps#p7284
Now I have to figure out how much down elevator to mix with the flaps to prevent the plane from zooming.
